Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of four years in a nice restaurant. When she said yes, the entire restaurant stood up and applauded.

This morning as I was packing lunch, about to leave for work, my boyfriend danced into the kitchen singing a made up song consisting of only my name over and over. When he saw me, he turned red and said "Oh, you're still here". Sneaking a peak in the daily routine of someone who really loves me GMH.

Can Love Just As Much As
Two Straight People.

This brought tears to my eyes, congratulations to you two! I'm a straight woman, but I'm supportive of true love, whether people are gay or straight and knowing that there is a whole restaurant full of people who are so accepting makes me very happy! Have a wonderful life together. Jen, Manitoba, Canada

Ellen, Maryland - I am so happy for you and wish I can one day tell the same story. Today, my heart is broken and I lost the love of my life. And we're both women.
Ericka, WA- Oh, congratulations! That made me just smile and nearly start crying. :) And even better, is that not a single person has sad a bad thing about it. And that's the way it should be. I think every person who has commented should know that they give me hope, too. Simply because of the support and the acceptance. Once again, congratulations! :) xxxxo

Marci, Buchanan, MI Congratulations! may you both have many long and loving years together. Peggy and I just celebrated our 19th Anniversary. We married on an Olivia Cruise. This is my first GMH, I received this site and your GMH from a "Straight" friend "Danielle" at work she said Marcia I think you'd like to see this ! It made my day to see your news and the fact that the world is changing so
wonderfully !!! Advice ? Always keep your sense of humor. Marci
I also received the link from a "straight" friend. I recently proposed to my girlfriend of 7 months. Everyone has accepted us with congratulatory arms. To be honest I have been surprised to find that more people do accept and appreciate true love no matter the gender. I'm not sure how many people were in the restaurant with you but you can add another couple of people --me and my-soon-to-be-wife-- that stand up and applaud you two lucky ladies in finding each other! Ditto about all of the comments being positive too! GMH- Jenn from Fort Wayne IN
I am so pleased to see that many people are moving on and being accepting towards homosexual couples, these sorts of stories GMH for the future and that people will be just as accepting towards me and my girlfriend when I eventually propose to her.
Congratulations to the both of you.
Bekki- England, UK
XxXxX
You two and those people around you are such a huge inspiration. I hope one day gay marriage is accepted in PA. Congratulations to the two of you, and you have my best wishes! You GMH!!! :D - Alyssa from Pennsylvania
Congratulations to both of you! This story really GMH about our future, it made me smile and almost cry too. I'm so glad that the world is changing for the better. [:
#28 Hey don't be sad, I can totally understand how you feel. Cheer up! [:
I hope to post a story like this one day too...
Donna Columbia SC--Congratulations!! Your story brought a big grin to my face. I nearly swallowed my ears. I hope one day I get this type of surprise for my birthday or Christmas!!
Congratulations to you both! :)
To T1M:
Gay men and women are taking away nothing from you. You get to keep the sanctity of your marriage, but why deny it to someone else? I think the real question is, why would you take away the happiness of another human being? Just because someone is gay does not mean that they have "abandoned religion"; I know several gays that are very firm in their belief. It's also extremely arrogant for you to say that they have abandoned religion in general. There are other forms of religion besides Christianity, if you haven't noticed, and not all of the as close minded as you. And, now that I think about it, doesn't your Bible tell you to reserve judgment on others, that it's not your place? Does God not also say that all are equal in his eyes?
Perhaps you should to your own faults before you try to criticize others. This website is meant to be uplifting, and yet you had to bring your narrow-minded beliefs into it and try to bring this couple down in the height of their happiness. If you disagree, that's fine, that's your own opinion, but do not knock down others because of it. I am a straight woman that is firm in her beliefs, but I have to question yours. Everybody has the right to be happy, do they not? So why would you believe in a god that tries to keep people from that? Frankly, you don't know the mind of God, so stop being arrogant enough to try to tell people otherwise.
To the couple: Congratulations to you both!! I'm so happy for you, and can't wait for the day when such stories are common place. Good luck to you in the future! =]
Wow, Cy0721, you're my hero for today. That is pretty much what I was debating saying to T1M as well. Thank you!
This GMSMH for humanity. Every person in that crowd is awesome.
@Cy0721: No matter how many there be, there will never be enough people like you in this world.
To Ellen- I'm with you on that. I'm only 16 and already ive loved and lost but the good news is someone else came along just when i needed her to GMH. Don't give up on love yet and you'll end up as happy as Katheryn and her future wife. :)
Thats the most beautiful thing ive heard n it jst gave me hope tht me n my gf will soon b able to b like tht 1 day both of us bein women :)
I have a question to pose to all of the people who are so strongly against gay marriage from a religious standpoint: You believe that God will send gay people who take part in homosexual acts to hell, right? Well, do you think he would do any better for people like you who are so truly horrible to other human beings? Do you honestly think that the people who beat homosexuals to death will go to heaven for their crime? If God hates them for loving, wouldn't he hate you for hating?
Just when you think you know the world, they do something spontaneous to surpise you. Congradulations (:
Emily, Pennsylvania: I feel like I am constantly reminded that my girlfriend and I cannot get married (or even get a civil union) without moving out of state. Stories like this GMH that someday, there will be marriage equality in the US. The comments give me even more hope and reassure me that I am not alone. Thank you all.
Thanks, wohdin :D That kinda made my day =]
To rubixcube: I'm very sorry for you. To be disgusted by people in love...now that's a tragedy. Hopefully someday, for your sake, you'll be able to appreciate love for what it is, no matter who the couple sharing it is. Because until you do, I'd imagine that your world is going to be pretty dark and filled with little more than hate. And no one should have to deal with that, even people like you that have nothing better to do than bring other people down.
I have to tell you, this is my all time favorite GMH. It makes me tear up every time I read it, and I can't even say that I relate. I am a straight woman, but hearing about about acceptance like that is truly inspirational, and I can honestly say that this level of acceptance is something I wish for all of my gay friends to find.
Congrats!! I was feeling pretty down today, and when i read this it seriously made my day so much better :) To the people that are disrespectful, if you have nothing nice to say then don't waste our time by putting people down. To the people that are so supportive and to the couple, its people like you that give me hope :) I'm a female and proposed to my gf also and just knowing that there are so many people out there that are supportive also gives me hope. I wish you both the very best of luck and a happy fufilling life together :)
That isn't just a nice story, that *actually* gives me hope. My ignorant generation uses the word 'gay' as a synonym for 'stupid' and make fun of me when I correct them because I'm straight. Just as I want to give up on people, I read something like this. Congratulations!
thank you so much for this. I'm 16 and bisexual. me nd my gf hav been together 2 and half yrs. it's been so hard dealin with people not accepting especially parents. this story GMH tht one day well b able to get married nd hav so much support. thnk u
WTF is up with all these gay gmh's??? they are discusting!!!
You know what doesn't GMH? The ignorant, close-minded comments. This post isn't even about being gay, it's about the love and acceptance which you obviously don't have.
I've recently realized that I'm bisexual, and I was dating a guy who said he accepted me just the way I was. His family, however, hated me, said all these things about me, and started taking away all his things, even though he's 23, because I'm bi. I broke things off because I couldn't bear to tear apart his family. I lived among estranged families and feuds my whole life. Then...he cut me out of his life so his family wouldn't cut him off. Another friend of mine, her bf doesn't want me hanging out w/her cause he thinks I'll turn her gay. Seeing this post....gives me hope that I'll find someone who loves me for me, whether that person is male or female. Thank you, OP.
congratulations :) your story gmh that one day everyone will accept gays :) and I hope me and my girlfriend can get over our little bump in our relationship and get married too I plan on proposing soon :)
I honestly can't stand the ignorance of the people posting hateful comments on this thread. It disgusts me to see that people would happily take away the happiness of other people, just to make themselves feel more secure about their own sexuality.
OP, your story GMH.
Congratulations, I hope you two have a wonderful life together!
And don't you dare listen to those arrogant idiots who think true love is disgusting. (:
to all these people making rude comments: chill. just because you don't agree doesn't mean you have to condemn them! I personally am straight and will choose to stay that way, but I'm still happy that they are happy :)
I almost cried. I could cry. Oh, that's wonderful. I hope you have a long and happy life together.
u should be proud of who u r no matter who u love! :)
I personally don't think homosexuality is right in the eyes of the Lord but that doesn't mean that I would ever EVER post rude or hateful comments against a homosexual. What you are is between you and God, and it is not my place or anyone else's to judge you. But just know that there are some of us out there who have an open mind and open hearts :)
that's just amazingly amazing.....this truly gmh! I am a women in love with an amazing women that I one day hope to marry!!!
That is truly beautiful, made me cry. I. wish you two a long happy life together!
Aww! I had to create an account just so I could tell you how happy this made me ; )
Congratulations girls! Don't let any of the assholes posting rude comments rain on your parade. You deserve true love just as much as anyone else.

Congratulations girls! Don't let any of the assholes posting rude comments rain on your parade. You deserve true love just as much as anyone else.
that's beautiful. I think that two people who love each other should be together no matter what. congradulations to you both.
This is very touching. My best friend is gay and i am strongly for gay marriage.Everyone who is trying to say that its against the bible to be gay, well umm NEWS FLASH most of the hypocrits are in the churches, and the bible was not written by god,it was written by man who was inspired by god,so dont judge gay people or anyone for that matter, because arent we all gods children?I may only be 15 but I am very pleased people like you and i and all other individulas are stepping up and demanding we all be treated as equals.Congrats and may you and your wife have the happiest of all marriages (: -Emily Jane S,C,
