Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of four years in a nice restaurant. When she said yes, the entire restaurant stood up and applauded.

We're both women.

*** Random LoveGivesMeHope Story ***

This morning as I was packing lunch, about to leave for work, my boyfriend danced into the kitchen singing a made up song consisting of only my name over and over. When he saw me, he turned red and said "Oh, you're still here". Sneaking a peak in the daily routine of someone who really loves me GMH.

I also received the link from a "straight" friend. I recently proposed to my girlfriend of 7 months. Everyone has accepted us with congratulatory arms. To be honest I have been surprised to find that more people do accept and appreciate true love no matter the gender. I'm not sure how many people were in the restaurant with you but you can add another couple of people --me and my-soon-to-be-wife-- that stand up and applaud you two lucky ladies in finding each other! To T1M: Gay men and women are taking away nothing from you. You get to keep the sanctity of your marriage, but why deny it to someone else? I think the real question is, why would you take away the happiness of another human being? Just because someone is gay does not mean that they have "abandoned religion"; I know several gays that are very firm in their belief. It's also extremely arrogant for you to say that they have abandoned religion in general. There are other forms of religion besides Christianity, if you haven't noticed, and not all of the as close minded as you. And, now that I think about it, doesn't your Bible tell you to reserve judgment on others, that it's not your place? Does God not also say that all are equal in his eyes? Perhaps you should to your own faults before you try to criticize others. This website is meant to be uplifting, and yet you had to bring your narrow-minded beliefs into it and try to bring this couple down in the height of their happiness. If you disagree, that's fine, that's your own opinion, but do not knock down others because of it. I am a straight woman that is firm in her beliefs, but I have to question yours. Everybody has the right to be happy, do they not? So why would you believe in a god that tries to keep people from that? Frankly, you don't know the mind of God, so stop being arrogant enough to try to tell people otherwise. To the couple: Congratulations to you both!! I'm so happy for you, and can't wait for the day when such stories are common place. Good luck to you in the future! =]

I have a question to pose to all of the people who are so strongly against gay marriage from a religious standpoint: You believe that God will send gay people who take part in homosexual acts to hell, right? Well, do you think he would do any better for people like you who are so truly horrible to other human beings? Do you honestly think that the people who beat homosexuals to death will go to heaven for their crime? If God hates them for loving, wouldn't he hate you for hating?

Thanks, wohdin :D That kinda made my day =] To rubixcube: I'm very sorry for you. To be disgusted by people in love...now that's a tragedy. Hopefully someday, for your sake, you'll be able to appreciate love for what it is, no matter who the couple sharing it is. Because until you do, I'd imagine that your world is going to be pretty dark and filled with little more than hate. And no one should have to deal with that, even people like you that have nothing better to do than bring other people down.

I've recently realized that I'm bisexual, and I was dating a guy who said he accepted me just the way I was. His family, however, hated me, said all these things about me, and started taking away all his things, even though he's 23, because I'm bi. I broke things off because I couldn't bear to tear apart his family. I lived among estranged families and feuds my whole life. Then...he cut me out of his life so his family wouldn't cut him off. Another friend of mine, her bf doesn't want me hanging out w/her cause he thinks I'll turn her gay. Seeing this post....gives me hope that I'll find someone who loves me for me, whether that person is male or female. Thank you, OP.
