An immigrant manicurist living in DC returned to her native village in Ethiopia and saw children walking three hours each way to attend classes held under a tree.

When she heard about her friend, a little girl, getting eaten by a hyena walking to school, she decided to raise money to build one. She set aside a whole third of her salary, plus tips, but it wasn't enough. So she did what all of us would do to raise money... sold her car and her house.
