Last night I came home late from studying to find my roommate and her boyfriend cuddling on the couch: she was sick and couldn't sleep, and he was reading to her and rubbing her back. He stayed until she finally fell asleep at 5 a.m. I found out later it was his birthday.

It's really an egregious experience, to be lost and found again. The allegiance you've found is exceptionally fortunate considering it was winter as well. Keep up your determination. =)
