I was diagnosed as a diabetic when I was five years old.

My brother who was turning three at the time saw me cry after getting an insulin shot. He walked over to my mom and asked, 'Mom, can I have diabetes, too? I don't want her to be alone.'

Today, my girlfriend visited me. She had shaved off all her beautiful blonde hair.

When I asked why, she said, "Because I want you to know you're not going through this alone."
