Last year, I was going to kill myself. I wrote a note and slipped it into my best friend's locker at school. That night, I was preparing to die, when she crawled through my window and kissed me. My first real kiss.

Kristain, I know you read GivesMeHope all the time. Will you marry me?

From OMG-FACTS.com

Having sex can reduce a fever because of the sweat produced.

Sex is also a pain reliever, ten times more effective than Valium: immediately before orgasm, levels of the hormone oxytocin rise by five times, determining a huge release of endorphins. These chemicals calm pain, from a minor headache to arthritis or migraines, and with no secondary effects. Migraines also disappear because the pressure in the brain's blood vessels is lowered while we have sex. So now we see that actually, a woman's headache is rather a good reason for having sex, not against it.

*** Random LoveGivesMeHope Story ***

Earlier in the summer I was at church and the pastors were doing announcements. During the announcements, they mentioned a couple who was celebrating their wedding anniversary. It was their 75th. The husband is 102. Every one cheered for them to kiss. They made out.

catface - yes, sometimes this site can make you feel slightly inferior - i suffer from depression and sometimes even suicidal thoughts now and then, and sometimes seeing other people's happy endings can be triggering, but you should know by now that this site is not just to give you hope that things will be better for you, it restores faith in acceptance and people treating each other well (true love), human nature (random acts of kindness) and no loss of innocence in an age where kids seem to grow up and get jaded/act like mini adults younger and younger (cute kids). There may be stuff that is triggering due to your own insecurities/sense of self but if that is so perhaps you shouldn't be relying on it for support and should instead lookup stories of people that have been there or find a discussion forum for those in your situation. Most of the stories on here don't genuinely 'gmh' so I don't seek solace from them, they just make me go 'awwwwwhh'. I hope you find something more stable to cling on to and give you genuine hope, take care xx

For those of you who are wigging out about the content of this post, you need to understand that the purpose of this post isn't to glorify suicide as a route to happiness. This site doesn't promote that ideal at all. The purpose of GivesMeHope is to show people who are having a rough time in their life that it can turn around. Things can get better, even at the darkest of hours. This story shows other people who are considering suicide that if they can just hang in there, things could change for them as well. When I first read it, that was my initial thought, not "Oh, this is going to show a bunch of depressed teens that if they attempt suicide they'll get snogged and married within 12 months." You seem to be misinterpreting this site as a means of people rubbing the awesomeness of their lives in your face. They are merely trying to help show others like themselves that things can change.

I hope you get some one way or another. Your posts GMH that my life doesn't suck- thanks!

"there's really no such thing as too young." I agree, it's good to get your first marriage out of the way early...that way when you finish growing up and have grown apart, you'll have some time to really figure out who you are before you decide if you want to get married again. (Go check out the statistics for divorce rates for people who marry young. It's amazingly high.)

There are ages when people are not mentally mature enough to deal with the pressures of marriage. Teenagers are generally included. As the product of one of these sorts of marriages, complete with the girl "saving him" and all, it does not give me hope. This person needs help, not marriage. I severely hope he DID get help and doesn't threaten suicide again.

I feel that people are overlooking is the time span. We don't know how long it's been since Jay slipped that note to her. It's possible it's been six or seven years. It's possible that they have lived together for years, have kids, stable jobs, and Jay just wants to put the icing on the cake. Whatever their situation, eighteen or eighty years old, I hope the best for this couple. It gives me hope that they love each other and were able to get through a rough time together. I check this post AT LEAST three times a day, waiting for her response. Even if you didn't say yes, Kristain, I hope everyone is okay and happy. If you did say yes, I wish you and Jay a long marriage and much happiness.

He's not asking her to marry him right then and there. He's asking her to marry him sometime in the future. A lot of people ask, then wait a year or two until actually getting married. And so what about their age? Age is just a number. They could be seniors in highschool, known each since they were in diapers. I hope she says yes, and just like Lillith15 said, I've also been checking this post everyday waiting to here what she said. good luck!

Guys....I know some people may not believe it, but teenagers CAN be in love!!!! Age has nothing to do with how you feel about someone!!! I've been with my boyfriend for very nearly a year and a half and I'm only 17. By the time I'm 19, we'll have been together 3 years and 3 months...and that's longer than many adults even KNOW each other before they pop the question!!! If they want to be together, let them be together and stop condemning them to divorce. You know nothing about them. You can't base everything you do in life on how much success everyone else has had doing something. And if she means enough to him for him to be happy after feeling so low as to try suicide, then she must make him very happy indeed. I'm sure many young people get divorced because they marry for the wrong reasons or rush into it. Who says he's rushing?? I applaud him and wish them both the very best life has to offer :).

Ignore all the cynical and rude comments- My mom and dad got married just out of high school (and I was at their wedding!) and they're still together 16 years later, and they love each other very much.

Many old people rush into marriage and screw that up too. My husband and I only dated for 6 months and we are happily married. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. Oh and my parents? Got engaged before they even dated via the mail in the vietnam war. How long have they been together? 45 YEARS. So really, just because you are cynical grandpa, does not mean things cannot work out for others.
