A few days ago I was complaining about how as we get older, nothing good ever comes in the mail, it's all electronic now.

But today I got a beautiful handwritten letter on brightly colored paper from my best friend just to prove me wrong.

I never thought that something so simple would make me so happy.

He noticed my grandma limping and went back, moved his car, and then moved my grandma's into his spot.

He talks about how sick she gets from the chemo, but she never complains.

She wears a smile for him and his brother.

Her positive outlook on life, despite fighting for her life, gives me hope.

One of my brothers is popular and has lots of friends, the other is quiet and has no friends.

The lonely one didn't want to go to his own Birthday party, in fear that my other brother's friends would harass him.

My friends suggested we sing him happy birthday.

I've only known him for a couple of months.

His hair is not really long, but it's starting to cover his eyes.

I said, "You need to get a hair cut!"

He then told me he's growing it out 12 inches so he can donate it to Children With Hair Loss, like he's been doing for 4 years.

Today was the Valentine's Dance.

A teacher brought her little sister, who had Down Syndrome, and asked people to dance with her.

One of the most popular guys at school took her hand and danced with her.

So did all his friends.

She smiled the whole night.

We talked every day, & he was like my big brother.

2 weeks ago, he committed suicide.

I went through our old conversations and realized how much he'd gotten me through, and how much he'd praised me, called me beautiful, etc.

R.I.P, Austin.

Two months ago my mom got the news of a three inch tumor in her shoulder.

Last week she recieved a biopsy, hoping to hear it is not cancerous.

Since her surgery, she has faught this pain, and kept a smile on her face.

She is always reminding my brothers & I how much she loves us.

She is beautiful, and my insperation.

The youngest of the three girls was 4, and she had sickle cell cancer.

While I was tucking her into bed, she said to me "Sometimes at night, the angels come to me and say 'Jaena, you are strong, and the doctors don't think so, but every in every treatment, God makes you a little better."'

My "friends" always exclude me and tease me.

This isn't the first time I've been to a new school and gotten bullied.

But every day my one guy friends goes out of his way to give me a massive hug.

He's the reason I get up in the morning.
