My Grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1999 and had to live in a nursing home. My Grandpa would come and visit her twice a day for four years. While he was there, Grandpa would go and visit many of the other lonely residents. Grandma passed away in 2003, but Grandpa still goes to visit those residents every week. His love for others GMH.

Last summer I was working as an assistant wedding photographer in California during the brief period when gay couples could marry there. While working a wedding at the San Fransisco City Hall, I watched two old men in tuxedos help each other up the stairs in order to finally get married after over 30 years together. GMH.

Today, I found GMH. After reading all the heartwarming stories, I walked into my room, and tore my suicide journal to shreds. I'm shaking out of happiness. GMH.

My family & I got seperated in New York City when I was little. Scared, I sat crying on the sidewalk as tons of people passed by. A homeless man picked me up, comforted me, & carried me to a police officer, who found my parents. He had a long beard & I asked if he was Jesus. He laughed so hard he cried. He GMH.

When my friend's brother told his family he was gay, his parents wanted to disown him. My friend told his parents that they either had two sons or none. My friend's support of his brother GMH.

Today, at an assembly, i saw a guy in my grade getting picked on by some guys on the football team because he was gay. the brutal insults went on for about five minutes until the quarterback, the king of our school, stood up and announced he was gay. nobody ever made fun of the kid again. after, i asked him if he really was gay. He isn't. GMH.

My friend's younger sister was coming home by herself when a guy on the bus began hassling her. An elderly man on the other side of the bus stood up and demanded that the guy "leave his granddaughter alone". The guy stopped, and got off at the next stop. The elderly man was a stranger. GMH.

My brother has Down Syndrome and doesn't speak very well. This week while we were down the beach he tried to learn how to skim board. He would try and ask the other boys how they did it and they would laugh at him and walk away. The last day 4 teenage boys spent hours with him teaching him. They were so patient. He wouldn't stop smiling :)They GMH.

My father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away 4 years ago. Recently, I stopped by his online blog. I found out my son had been leaving him comments, saying things like how he missed him, and how he is studying hard in school, and that he would study hard to find a cure to cancer so that people wont miss their grandfather like he does. I work in a bank - a place where good news is hard to come by recently: Today I spoke with a gentleman who told me he needed to know how much money he had. When I asked if he had a large purchase coming up, he said yes. "I'm buying clothes for the man who asks me for a quarter every day on my way to school," he replies. This gentleman was 12. GMH

I work at a dress store, and take care of the fitting room. Before my shift started I wrote several notes saying things like "You're beautiful" "You look great today" and "Smile, because you're enough." I stuck them of the mirrors in every fitting room. Most of the women who came out of the fitting room had a big smile on their face. GMH (See Operation Beautiful for more like this! -Editor)

On the weekend my friend accidentally left her wallet, which only had 35c in it, in the back of a taxi. Four days later, she found her wallet in her mail box, with $50 and a note inside: "We can see you need some money, so we're sending you some! - Marge and Jim (Parents of 4 previously "always poor" uni students). Their kindness GMH.

I was at a bookstore and an obscure author was doing a book signing. Nobody was coming over--he looked dejected. Then three teenagers came over, got his autograph & took pictures with him. It looked like it made his day. Later, I talked to them and they said they had never read his books. GMH

The homosexual boy in my senior class was not harassed, bashed, or mocked for his sexuality. As a matter of fact at our senior prom he was voted prom king AND prom queen, and he received a standing ovation from our entire class as he cat walked across every foot of the stage. GMH!

There's a homeless man in my town that everyone calls 'Jumanji' because he looks like the guy did when he got out of the board. No one speaks to him, but the other day, I did. He had a family, but his daughter died, and wife was killed by a drunk driver. He bought me a slice of pizza and now we speak whenever we see each other. He GMH.

My brother has cerebral palsy and has spent his life in and out of ICU's. During one stay, a local business owner was there providing a laptop for a college bound brilliant but handicapped girl. He got to talking with my mom and ended up arranging to grant my brother's deepest wish -- a meet and greet with all the members of the NY Knicks. GMH

From our friend at Operation Beautiful:

I put a post-it on the mirror here at work. It says “Believe in yourself – you are beautiful inside and out!” Our custodian was in the restroom earlier and I saw that she carefully removed it, cleaned the mirror and then stuck it back up there!

(Editor's Note: We're getting TONS of these! This is becoming a movement!)

The other day, my sister and I wrote encouraging messages on sticky notes and stuck them on every car on one street. The messages read "Smile - you're gorgeous!" "Have a wonderful morning!" "Love yourself because you're beautiful!". I can't help but feel happier for putting joy out into the world. I accidentally made my own day, and it GMH.

A few months ago, I was at dinner with friends, and we ended up having an emotional talk (mostly about my self-esteem issues) and I cried for about half of dinner. When I got the receipt, the stunning waitress had written something across the top: "You're even beautiful when you cry." GMH

The hardest part for me about my daughter being autistic is that she didn't recognize me as her mother. This week we were pointing at things in a book- "where's the cat?" "where's the ball?" and I asked her "where's the mommy?" and she turned around and pointed at me. GMH

Today, I was in the fitting room at Forever 21. I looked in the mirror, worrying that the dress I had on made me look fat. To the right of the mirror, someone wrote "Don't worry. You're beautiful. :)" It absolutely made my day!

I have been a pessimiss for all my life and never tried to do anything optimistic. Until I found GMH. Now I plan to leave little notes everywhere i go saying "You're Beautiful," and hopefully i will give someone hope. GMH.

(Editor's Note: Read the two BELOW this, first. We've gotten several of these!)

Today, we had school photos. I went to the bathroom and amazingly, it was empty. I pulled out my lipstick, and wrote 'You're beautiful :)' on a mirror. Another girl came in, walking towards the mirror I had written on, and pulled out her lip gloss. She then noticed the message and just grinned and left. I almost cried, it made my day. GMH

You are beautiful!,' Don't worry, be happy!' 'Have a nice day!' Live Life LOVE life! So many ppl came up and thanked us for making their day! I got this idea from GMH!

Another Operation Beautiful story:

Today, I put a post-it note that said "smile! :D" on it in the girl's bathroom in school (got that idea from GMH). Later, I noticed that someone else had put "SMILE, BEAUTIFUL! :)" on a desk. A few days later, I noticed some more in other places. I started a "trend" at school, that I got from GMH!

A few years ago, I was out with my gorgeous best friend, feeling like the most ugly girl in the room. Sensing this, an elderly gentleman won a stuffed animal from the crane machine, comes over and says "a stuffed animal for the prettiest girl in the room." I still feel like it. GMH.

At a fireworks display tonight, a man with Downs syndrome sat next to me on my blanket. His elderly parents were next to us & started to scold him & apologize, but I said I had plenty of room. He held my hand & told me he wanted to watch fireworks with me because I was pretty & he wanted to be my friend. He GMH.

I have a little sister who suffers from mental retardation. My mother told her I was gay and that "gay people don't go to heaven'. My sister started sobbing saying, "It wouldn't be heaven if Paloma wasn't there." My sister's unconditional love GMH.
