When I was seven, I missed the school bus and didn't know my way home and was crying on the pavement. A group of 17-18yr old guys on their way to school saw me. Instead of laughing and walking by, they cheered me up and dropped me home by looking in my school books for my address. I've no idea who they were, but their care GMH.

My dad would always start out conversations with''Do you have a girlfriend yet?''

After laughing and saying no hundreds of times I finally found the courage to tell him I was gay. After a long silence and a stressed out face or two, he calmy said, "Oh. Well.... Do you have a boyfriend yet?"

A long time ago, I was on the verge of committing suicide when a guy came to the roof to have lunch. He saw me climbing over the railing and asked me to share his lunch with him. After receiving my puzzled look, he explained, "everyone should die happy. or at least with a full stomach." We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last month. GMH.

In our school, each student has to make a report in front of the class about someone they admire.

My friend reported on a quiet girl in class, admiring her kindness. We all cheered in agreement. The girl was crying.

Later, I found out that was the day she'd decided not to kill herself. GMH

When my cousin was 12 years old, a cousin of hers was diagnosed with brain cancer and lost all of her hair.

To make her feel better, my cousin completely shaved her head - right before entering Middle School. At her age, I was terrified to stand out.

As we were packing up and saying our goodbyes, a family from another state came up to the stage and wrote us a check for $6,000. We just celebrated our 30th season. They GMH.

In 10th grade, right before the end-of-the-year dance, I split up with my boyfriend and therefore had no date.

Shortly before leaving, a friend of my mother's son showed up at the door in his Sunday best with a "corsage" made of few dandelions taped together attached to an elastic band.

Yesterday I turned my calculator on to do my math homework and "I love you" was written on the screen. My boyfriend said "I wrote it last Sunday and I've been waiting all week for you to turn it on." He knows I'm struggling with precalc and he can't help me, but his love and support make me want to do my best. It GMH.

I mentioned once on a facebook status that I didn't like what we had at home for me to bring to school for lunch, so I'd just skip lunch. The next day my friend put a paper bag lunch with my name on it on my desk. She didn't know that we didn't have any food at all for me to bring. Her kindness GMH.

Once, I drove a normal looking teenager from the airport to downtown toronto in my taxi. for an hour he asked me questions and we talked about my life my family everything. When we arrived he asked what the biggest tip Id ever recieved was. i told him $80. He gave me a $100 tip and walked off. GMH

Today, there was a blood drive in my school.

As the nurse was putting betadine on my arm, I look over to see on of the senior girls from my class. She is terrified of needles and was trembling as she gave blood. When I asked her she gave a simple response: Fear shouldn't stop you from doing something right.

A girl I went to high school with was diagnosed with Leukimia her Junior year. She lost all of her hair due to the chemotherapy and was pretty upset about it. One day, eight of her closest friends came to school with shaved heads, saying it was just hair, and who cared - bald is the new in. GMH

A boy was dying of cancer and needed an expensive brain surgery, but his family, broke and desperate, couldn't afford it. His 8 yr old took sister Tess took her piggy bank savings to a pharmacist in order to buy a 'miracle'. it just so happens that the right man witnessed the little girl's tears at the pharmacy counter: a neurosurgeon. He performed the surgery for free.

Two years ago, I took my 21 year old mentally slow cousin to Disneyland.

When we went to meet the Princesses, without a moments hesitation Cinderella went up to her and said, "Oh, it's so lovely to meet another princess!"

My cousin still talks about that to this day. Cinderella GMH.

At a BBQ when I was 6, I got my new dress dirty.

When my abusive mother saw, she dragged me into the house. A boy followed us and when he saw my mother hitting me he got his own parents. SS were called and I was relocated to live with that family.

I work in an airport. Today, a group of around 50 Army soldiers got off one of our flights, about 5 at a time, coming home. In an instant, the entire concourse got on their feet and gave a standing ovation until every last soldier got off the plane. GMH

When my mother was pregnant with me, doctors insisted I was mentally disabled and she needed an abortion. She refused, and soon gave birth to a perfect, healthy baby. Eighteen years later, I'm a straight A college student with the best mom ever. Her unconditional love, even before I was born, GMH.

Half a year ago, my boyfriend died in a car accident.

On the date of our would-be 2 year anniversary, my girlfriends showed up at my door dressed as men--complete with ties and fake mustaches--and took me out on a romantic supper as my "boyfriends."

The homosexual boy in my senior class was not harassed, bashed, or mocked for his sexuality. As a matter of fact at our senior prom he was voted prom king AND prom queen, and he received a standing ovation from our entire class as he cat walked across every foot of the stage. GMH!

My little sister Lilly was abducted.

She had been gone for 6 months when the searching stopped. My mother laid her soul to rest, and we went on with our lives.

Everyone except my father. He looked for 3 years and found her almost lifeless in a downstairs cellar, wearing chains.

I was walking through my brother's school and in some of the hallways I saw the same poster. I walked down this one hall and saw a guy putting up the same poster that I have been seeing all through this school. On it, in someone's handwriting, it read; 'New suicide hotline: WWW.Givesmehope.com'. I thanked him as I walked by. GMH

I suffer from severe depression. I try to keep that part of me away from friends because I'm worried they'll judge me for it. After revealing this to a dear friend via email, he went silent. I went to bed feeling worse than ever. Early the next morning, there was a knock at the door. He had driven all night to see me, just to give me a hug. GMH.

I'm fourteen, and I just had brain surgery.

I'll be out for our whole softball season, and I've been very depressed. I went to the first game, even though I couldn't play. I arrived to see every girl on the field had my number sewn on the front of their jersey.

I was recently working at a nursery school where I saw a 3 year old girl wearing tights on her head. One of my colleagues told me it was because some of the children had been making fun of her bald head. She had had chemotherapy. I later saw one young boy of about 4 go over to her, tell her she was beautiful and remove the tights. GMH x

When my sister was younger she came home from school one day and demanded I take her to the library so she could get books on sign language.

I asked why? She told me there was a new kid at school who was deaf and she wanted to befriend him.

Today I stood beside her at their wedding watching her sign "I DO". GMH

About a year ago,I had a party at my house.

I was a little nervous about having people come over because my younger brother has autism and bipolar mania.

When my little brother wanted to come in to tell my friends about Pokemon,all the others told him to leave. Then my best friend stood up and took him to another room to talk about Pokemon. She GMH.

A long time ago, I went to see a band at a small club in Chicago, the band was unknown and broke.

After the show, they scraped up enough money to go and buy fast food for all the homeless men near the club.

The band? Fall Out Boy.

I was in class one day when my boyfriend, who had been deployed for two years, came walking into the classroom. I had no idea he was back in the States. I've never cried harder in my life then I did when I saw him walk in. As I was hugging him, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. We're getting married in the fall. GMH.

Exactly 8 months ago my grandpa lost his battle with cancer. By the end he couldn't talk and wouldn't respond to any of us. A few moments before he took his last breath, he looked at my grandma and said clear as day "I love you". They were married 51 years. GMH!!

In 8th we had a boy with Autism named Matt.

A few days before thanksgiving break his mom died of cancer, but her funeral would be on thanksgiving day. When our school found out every single student and teacher decided to go to the funeral instead of spending thanksgiving with their family to support him.

When I was 5 years old, my mom was diagnosed with severe epilepsy and couldn't take care of me.

My sister, 12 at the time, went grocery shopping, did my hair, and made my lunch for school everyday. She gave up her childhood so I could keep mine.

I'm 15 now and that meant the world to me. I love you Laney and you GMH everyday.

I work with kindergarten children, and when a little girl wet her pants, we decided to give her dress up clothes to wear.

She was very upset and embarrassed so a little boy in the class put on a cinderella dress and held her hand the rest of the day, saying "look - everyone's laughing at ME!"

Today, I saw one of the most popular seniors in my grade eat lunch with the wheelchair-bound, mentally-challenged freshman girl who is always by herself. She made the girl laugh and talked to her like she was no different than her other friends. The senior girl then invited her to go see Twilight this weekend. Her kindness GMH.

A few years ago, my sister was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors told her that her chances of living were one in a thousand.

Her reply? "Well then I feel sorry for the other nine hundred ninety-nine people."

She is now in remission. She GMH.

Last year, I was going to kill myself. I wrote a note and slipped it into my best friend's locker at school. That night, I was preparing to die, when she crawled through my window and kissed me. My first real kiss.

On halloween night, my guy friend was a part of a haunted house fundraiser. Near closing time, a drunk 40-year-old man staggered in and tried to rape on of the actresses. My friend immediately pushed him back and made him get out, putting himself in the path of a full grown drunk who was twice his size.

I had my students write a paper about who they admired most. They had to read their papers out loud. One girl chose to write about her friend that had recently committed suicide. She started crying in the middle of reading her paper.

Two boys, one of whom was very shy, ran to the front of the class and hugged her... in front of everybody.

During WWII, my family's home in Western Russia was pillaged by the German Army.

After the fall of communism, an elderly man showed up to the now rebuilt house. He told my grandmother that he was a former German soldier, and he wanted to return the jewelry he stole from the house.

A few weeks ago, a guy from my school collapsed after basketball practice.

Instead of freezing up, his best friend immediately started CPR. He continued for 5 minutes until the EMT arrived, never giving up hope. It turns out, he had a broken arm. He pushed through the pain to keep his friend's heart beating.

He lived. GMH.

When I was six, a man came up to me and told me that he liked my glasses.

I was the only kid in my class with glasses, so I was always teased about them, bur after that small comment, they didn't bother me anymore. That man? Paul David Hewson - better known as Bono.

About a year before my dog died, he started to go blind.

When my cat realized this, she began helping him find his way by rubbing against his legs, running ahead of him, and meowing loudly so he could follow the sound of her voice.

After being teased throughout highschool, for having acne and being overweight, I finally overcame my hardships. I now have self-esteem. GMH

At one point, my family couldn't afford to feed everyone.

I'd usually skip out on meals. When my brother found this out he only finished half his meals so he could give the rest of what little he had to me. This was a few years back.

I'm seventeen, the oldest. He's turning five in December.

I'm dying of lupus at age 17. I was brought home from the hospital to have my last week. I've been an avid Harry Potter fan for many years, and my mother is desperatly trying to find a way for me to see the new Harry Potter theme park. Little does she know, her love through all of this is far better than a day in Hogsmeade. She GMH.

A few months ago, my dad and I were visiting New York.

We saw a homeless mother with 3 young kids sitting by a doorway of a store. While the children were bundled up warm, the mother had only a thin flimsy jacket. Seeing this, my dad handed her a $100 bill, telling her to buy herself a coat. She cried from happiness.

A little girl was dying of cancer and her younger brother had a match for the bone marrow she needed. The doctors told him it was a matter of life and death. After he had the surgery, he asked the doctors how long he had to live. He thought if he gave his bone marrow to let his sister live he would die but he did it anyway. GMH

My dad passed away last year in mid June. The funeral was on the Sat. before a week of five crucial exams for my class. I was shocked to see almost half the class there, at the funeral, to give me love and support. At the time, I had just switched schools, and only known them for two weeks. We are all now best friends. Their loyalty GMH.

I recently rung up a young boy and his mother. When he saw me at the register, wearing a hijab, he grinned broadly at me. As they were walking away afterwards, he tugged on his mom's sleeve and said,

"Did you see her, ma? She's gorgeous! I bet that's why she's all covered up."

Freshman year, there was a crippled girl bound to a wheelchair. For 4 years, she did physical therapy and progressed to crutches. When we graduated a few weeks ago, she handed her crutches to an officer and walked across the entire stage. The applause from the seniors was deafening. She cried the whole way. GMH

I made cookies, put them in bags, and sent my siblings to school. Later, my dad got a call from a worried parent who had seen them leave school in the wrong direction.

During WWII, my friend's grandpa was captured and tortured, but he refused to reveal his mission. The japanese said if he didn't spill, they would kill the other five captured men. He wouldn't budge. He escaped, but he had to live with their blood on his hands. 25 years later, he found out they all lived. Not a single one talked. GMH

My grandma has been fighting cancer for years.

Today, she was breathing very hard and slow and couldn't open her eyes for several hours. When my dad put the phone next to her ear, I spoke to her telling her that I love her and how she inspires me.

I was told that she opened her eyes for me. GMH.

A few months ago, I was at dinner with friends, and we ended up having an emotional talk (mostly about my self-esteem issues) and I cried for about half of dinner. When I got the receipt, the stunning waitress had written something across the top: "You're even beautiful when you cry." GMH

I woke up one morning to hear the birds outside my window and my mother cooking breakfast downstairs. I've never cried so much in my entire life. I had been deaf since the age of 8.

Once, at a college party some 15 year old girls showed up.

They got really drunk, and one of them started stripping on the dance floor. Seeing other guys eyeing her, some boys put their jackets around her and took her home.

Today i got a text from my boyfriend instructing me to go into my bedroom for 15 minutes.

When he text me to come out again, i walked into a flood of pink balloons. He told me he'd blown up all 730 of them by himself -- one for each day I've fought cancer.

Last Sunday, my dad was at a church service in Austin, TX. An obviously homeless man sat next to him in the pew.

During the offering, the man put $2 into the basket.

Today, the pastor of my church anounced that his 19-year-old daughter was pregnant out of wed-lock.

As the pastor's wife began to cry, a little boy ran up to her and hugged her saying, "It's okay! Babies are the best thing in the world, no matter what." GMH

The other day, I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. While walking through the parking lot, I noticed a man stand on his shopping cart, and give a few good pushes before jumping on. He smiled and laughed the entire way, loving life. He was about 50 and wearing a business suit. GMH.

My mom once told me that when she was younger my grandma had been robbed leaving work. Her purse had all her money, credit cards, and pictures of her children. The next day she found the purse on her front porch, nothing was missing but there was an extra $100 and note apologizing and wishing her luck raising four children.GMH.

I have a three-year-old son with down syndrome.

Today I took him to the park. He spotted a teenage girl there, and walked right up to her and said "hi". That girl played with my son for an hour. He can't stop talking about her.

Last February, a the radio station my little sister listens to was holding a fundraiser for St. Jude's Hospital. They were playing songs while families told their stories about how cancer had affected their lives. My sister donated all her money she had ever gotten ($450) to St. Jude's. She's 5. GMH

When I was a child I had just been yelled at by my parents, and went down to cry beside my pet rat's cage.

When she noticed I was crying, she walked to her food bowl, grabbed a cracker, and handed it to me through the bars.

Today I caught my husband chewing anti-smoking gum.

I asked him why he suddenly decided to quit, him being a smoker for almost thirty years. He patted my pregnant stomach and told me that he didn't want our little girl to suffer once she was born.

I was at a bookstore and an obscure author was doing a book signing. Nobody was coming over--he looked dejected. Then three teenagers came over, got his autograph & took pictures with him. It looked like it made his day. Later, I talked to them and they said they had never read his books. GMH

While volunteering at the Special Olympics last year, I saw a boy with down syndrome make an amazing three point shot.

The look of pure joy on his his and his mother's face made front row seats of this game more valuable than any professional one.

From PostSecret: I'm a school photographer and will never forget the picture I took of a little girl with luekemia. This 10-year-old, came up to my camera sat down and whipped her wig off. I stood there in shock for a second. To this she responded "I want to be remembered as me. Not as the girl with the wig." Her bravery GMH.

I saw a family of four with two umbrellas. The father picked up his young daughter, and the mother held a umbrella over them. Then the teenage son held a umbrella over his mother.

Today at the senior center I volunteer at, I found out that one client, a 60+yr old widowed man, who raised 5 daughters on his own, once heard a woman in his church was pregnant and planned to abort. He told her he would take the baby instead and raise it as his own. He's now raising a 10 year old. He GMH

When my parents found out about my lesbian relationship, they threatened to stop helping with college tuition.

My brother told them he would always support me, whatever my sexuality, and that if they wouldn't, he would support me financially until I could be independent.

Today, my friend told her father she was gay.

He turned and left silently, and she cried, thinking he wouldn't accept her. About an hour later, he came back with a gay pride flag and a stuffed animal dolphin and said, ''Did you know 40% of the dolphin population is gay?''

There is a mentally challenged child in my high school.

He cannot speak but you can tell that having people around him helps him. While most students mock him, there is one boy in my art class who will always talk to him and share headphones so that they can dance and listen to music together.

How much he cares about someone who others don't GMH

There is a boy in my high school named Andrew who has a mental disability and cannot walk properly.

One day he fell over in the hallway and couldn't get up, instead of the crowd trampling him in the hallway, 10 popular senior students ran over to help him up.

I'm 17 and I tutor/babysit a 7th grader. One day he asked me why I didn't have a boyfriend.

I told him I didn't know. He replied, ''It's because you're too pretty and too nice. No boy deserves you.''

Last summer I was working as an assistant wedding photographer in California during the brief period when gay couples could marry there. While working a wedding at the San Fransisco City Hall, I watched two old men in tuxedos help each other up the stairs in order to finally get married after over 30 years together. GMH.

When I was 4 years old, my family went on a Disney cruise. I was so excited...but I ended up getting sea sick. As I gloomily watched the other kids play with Mickey, I felt a someone tap my shoulder. It was Donald Duck. He stayed by my side the entire time, making sure I was having fun. To this day, he's still my favorite character. Donald Duck GMH

Today, I was out to dinner when I saw a group of teenager girls dining together next to an old woman by herself. One of the girls asked the old woman to join them, and her face lit up as she accepted and moved over to their table. They GMH.

Today I was going out for a coffee with my boyfriend. On the way I passed a homeless man and gave him $5. When I got to Starbucks my boyfriend dumped me. I walked home crying, and when I passed the homeless man he told me how sorry he was, and offered to buy me a coffee. He used the $5 I gave him, and smiled proudly as he handed over the money. GMH

My Grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1999 and had to live in a nursing home. My Grandpa would come and visit her twice a day for four years. While he was there, Grandpa would go and visit many of the other lonely residents. Grandma passed away in 2003, but Grandpa still goes to visit those residents every week. His love for others GMH.

When I entered middle school I saw this super cute seventh grade boy. I liked him ever since that day even though we NEVER talked. Then one day in my sophomore year he came up to me during lunch. He said, "You know, I've always thought you were beautiful." That blew me away. We have been married for 11 years. To this day he GMH.

In my first year of my nursing degree, I was so nervous about giving my first ever injection to a patient. The patient told me to relax, take a breathe, and that the faster you inject it the sooner it would be over. My patient was 8 years old, and I still pray that she survived. Princess, you GMH.

Today, I went to a store and bought a coat. I suffered severe burns on my face when I was a toddler, and have always been very insecure. As I was leaving the store wearing the coat, I found a note in the pocket from the cashier, who I've never met. It said, "You're beautiful." I read it every day. GMH

When I was seven years old, I was diagnosed with cancer. My parents were told that I had about a year to live. Despite mounting medical bills, my father put a fraction of his paycheck into my college savings account. I am currently a sophomore nursing major. My father's belief that I would survive GMH.

In second grade, I had a friend who was struggling with leukemia, and kids often teased her because she was losing her hair.

A girl asked her why her hair was so thin, and her older brother came over and made up a story about how she got gum stuck in her hair. People laughed at him, but he just kissed her head and sat back down.

I recently saw on the news that a boy with cerebral palsy scored a touchdown for his team. The coaches collaborated with the players to make it seem like a real effort to catch him so the boy could be proud of his touchdown. The story not only brought tears to my eyes, but it also GMH.

Today on Facebook I found a group created by a guy who found someone's camera while traveling. He really wants to return the camera, which is full of memories, but has no idea who it belongs to. 230,000 people have joined the group to pass along the message. Kindness GMH.

UPDATE: The good will of 250,000 people created a stir that rippled into an office in London, where a group of French people were recognized, one being the owner.

Every year, the graduating 8th grade class votes for superlatives.

When 'Jordan A' was announced for Most Inspirational, teachers were in tears to see our entire class who never get along, give a standing ovation.

He died in a fire in fourth grade and we still consider him part of our class.

My little 8 year old sister has leukemia. Today I visited her in hospital and she said to me

"Ellie, I know I'm going to die. But I know that I'm going to be coming back as a kitten. So after I'm gone and when a kitten comes to your door. It will be me. I will always love you. Even when I'll be a cat".

Today, me and my friend were asked by a 7-year-old if we were brother and sister.

I'm black and my friend is white. I said yes. The little kid seemed satisfied.

I met a 16 year old genius who was in medical school, studying to be a pediatric neurosurgeon.

I volunteered at my local hospital and saw this old couple; a man sat in a chair, holding his wife's hand on the bed and I heard her say,

"Promise you won't waste your last years missing me when I'm gone, Bill?" and he smiled and said,

A few years ago, my friend was involved in a car accident. He was told he would never walk again.

Today, I watched him as he stood up for the first time in eight years and walked a couple of steps.

Today I was eating lunch at the mall and noticed a girl about 16 years old nonchalantly putting quarters in every single candy machine on the first floor. She then took an escalator to the second floor and watched with a smile as kids became happy and excited when they discovered the money. She GMH.

Today, I saw my older brother for the first time in almost five years. Very shocked by his long hair, I asked him if he wanted me to cut it. He freaked out and said that he only needed to grow two more inches before he can have a wig made for his wife of almost 10 years, who's hair was beginning to fall out because of her cancer. Yesterday, it was late and I was heading to my car in the parking lot after work and three young guys come up to me and start talking. I was scared, until one draped his arm around me and silently showed me a text on his phone, telling me there was a dodgy guy following me and that they would make sure I got to my car safely. My family & I got seperated in New York City when I was little. Scared, I sat crying on the sidewalk as tons of people passed by. A homeless man picked me up, comforted me, & carried me to a police officer, who found my parents. He had a long beard & I asked if he was Jesus. He laughed so hard he cried. He GMH.

In the hospital, I passed Cynthia's room, a baby girl with cancer.

Due to her family living far away and having no car, she's spent most of the past year getting treatment alone in the hospital. Tonight, I passed her room and her dad lay in her bed rocking her to sleep. He walked across town just to kiss her goodnight.

Cancer claimed my daughter's life 3 years ago. Just a few weeks ago I attended what would have been her high school graduation. When the valedictorian and salutatorian, her friends, rose to give their speech, tears poured down my face. They dedicated their graduation to my daughter. GMH.

Today, I came across a video of CNN reporter Anderson Cooper reporting the news in Haiti.

Chaotic looting had broken out all around him. Suddenly, the looting turned violent, and a young boy was laying on the ground, gushing blood.

In the chaos, Cooper stopped reporting, sprinted over, and dragged the stunned boy to safety. GMH

Today, I was watching the news and saw a story of a young boy with Cerebral Palsy that was told he'd never be able to walk.

His family adopted a duckling, which was going to be put down because it had deformed legs. But this boy learned to walk from copying the duckling's every move.

On Valentines' Day, I was at a flower shop.

A little boy walked up to the counter and asked to buy a red rose. Then the little boy opened his own little wallet and paid for it. I heard him say on the way out. 'Hurry before the graveyard closes, grandma waiting'.

Almost one year ago I had to leave my house due to my abusive, drug using mother.

A few months ago, I was flying alone to a close friend's funeral.

Sitting next to me was a small boy. At the end of the flight, he tapped me on the shoulder. Without a word, he handed me a homemade necklace. "Don't be sad." He whispered. I hadn't spoken a word to him the entire flight.

I'm 16 and am about to have a baby. I work a minimum wage job with about 15 other people who are just barely making it. My boss told me that me being pregnant was making him look bad and that I need to quit. I did. So did everyone else working there.

Today I found out about a 10-year-old boy who has been harrassed by his classmates because he refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Why? He says that until gays and lesbians have equal rights, there isn't really "liberty and justice for all". Kids with the courage to stand up for their fellow human beings GMH.

Around the time the Haiti earthquake hit, my friend came into over a $100,000 worth of scholarship money.

The next day, he gave $40,000 of it to a woman who lost everything except her newborn in the quake.

Today, I came out of the closet to my extremely-Christian parents after hiding it in fear for more than seven years. They hugged me and told me that no matter what path I chose, they would always love me for who I am. :) GMH

I went to check out some commotion at my school's library today and saw a man staring triumphantly at a computer screen.

He had just submitted his final exam of his online college courses and found out he had passed and would be graduating with his bachelor's. The man was 81 years old. The commotion was applause.

I'm 5"11 and feel really tall often, and even though I'm considered pretty I feel manly often. I would never ever wear heels...but my amazing 5"11 boyfriend bought me the most gorgeous gold-colored high pair I had ever seen. Every 1000 bottle caps my friends mom collects, a 4 year old girl gets a free round of chemo. While i was at my brothers baseball game, collecting bottle caps, 3 little boys asked me what i was doing. They went around to every trash can, not caring what was in them & got bottle caps. I work at Tim Hortons, and everyday when we close we have to throw out all of the donuts, muffins, bagels etc. Yesterday, 5 minutes before we closed a lady came in and asked what we do with all the food at the end of the day, we told her we have to throw it out. I'm 22 years old and I'm about to go on my first date. I've never felt so beautiful. GMH.

Just today, I found out the real reason of my parents' death when I was 10.

When our car lost its brakes and was going to crash into another, they tried to protect me to the last minute. Their bodies were found, covering me while I was unconscious.

A woman in the far section of Long Island, NY needed a liver transplant.

There was a liver in South Bronx hospital but it could not be moved. A police officer drove her in the middle of a snow storm. With the help of the highway crew, she was able to get the liver 7 minutes before it was no longer viable.

Today, after a discussion in class about society's fear of talking to others who are different from them, I went to Walmart. A woman in a full hijab and headscarf stopped me and said that she liked my dress and asked where I got it. People who aren't afraid to embrace their religion AND compliment those different from themselves GMH.

When my best friend of 20 years had months of pregnancy complications, I was at her side through all of it. However, once the baby was born, hospital policy only let blood relatives visit the NICU. A nurse saw how disappointed I was, so she took me over and signed me in as his aunt. People who recognize that family is more than a DNA match GMH.

One of my friends found out both her parents were hospitalized that same night. Financially unable to fly home, she went into work the next day - quietly mentioning her concern to a co-worker that she picks up every morning. Word got to her boss and he covered the flight expense and she was on her way home by that afternoon. Bosses with hearts GMH

In November, I noticed that the first African-American had joined our school.

In January, I discovered that the kindergarten teacher had adopted her from Ethiopia when her parents died. A few days ago, I discovered that she had adopted her sister so that they could be together.

Understanding the circumstances, her parents told her to abort or be disowned.

Her best friend - her 18 year old neighbor - although he was not the father, stepped into the father figures shoes. They got married 2 years later.

When I was 4 years old my mom went into the hospital diagnosed with failing kidneys, a double case of pnuemonia and a diabetic coma. She was unconscious for two weeks with a ten percent chance to live. Now I'm 16 and I still get to hug my mother every morning. GMH.

I saw a story on the news today about a man who tried to rob a convenient store. The shop owner subsequently pulled out a rifle and pointed it at the man, who immediately begged for forgiveness. The robber explained he had no food or money for his family. The owner gave the man 40 bucks and bread. GMH

Today is my friend's 16th birthday, he died on the 22nd of December 2009.

I found out a few days ago that he passed away when shots were fired after he saved a 15 year old girl from being raped by 3 men. She got away.

Yesterday, a friend of his created a group on facebook encouraging people to pray for his recovery. This morning, I joined the group - overnight, it has gained 456 members.

At my college graduation everyone is allowed to take a loved one with them as they walk across the stage. The last girl to walk across held the arm of her 90 year old grandpa. As they crossed the stage the chancelor read her grandfathers name. He graduated 60 years ago but didn't get to walk his own graduation because he was fighting in WWII. GMH.

The other day I saw a teenage girl walking down the sidewalk with a bag of pennies, stopping periodically to put one on the ground. When I asked her what she was doing she replied, "I want everyone to have good luck." She GMH.

I was at a fast food resturant today when I saw a homeless man being teased by these boys from school.

Then I see a shy teenage girl employee also from school buy a huge meal for a homeless guy right in front of those boys.. the most popular boys at school.

Today I found out my little sister stays inside during recess every day to help a blind kid at her school learn how to play the clarinet. She was supposed to have a solo during her concert, but she let him play it instead. Her selflessness at 12 years old GMH

The other day, I was being picked on at school as usual when I felt a sticky post it note being taped to my back. Thinking it said "Kick Me" or somthing along those lines, I ripped it off and was about to throw it away when I saw that it said "Ignore the bullies - you're beautiful," It made my day. GMH.

A few months ago, my brother was in hospital.

The day after he was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy, his heart stopped. He was technically dead for over 20 minutes. Usually, the paramedics give up after 20 minutes, but they kept going until my parents got to the hospital.

A minute after my dad came into the room, his heart restarted. That GMH

Yesterday my cousin told me about how her hairdresser in Beverly Hills, instead of buying lots of gifts for friends and family, goes to the post office in South Central LA, picks up letters to Santa by poor kids, buys all the gifts they asked for, and personally delivers them to their homes Christmas Eve. Today I remembered GMHs about people writing notes saying, "Smile. You are beautiful" in Eating Disorder recovery books. I decided to do the same at my local bookstore. A four year old boy saw what I was doing and helped me make notes for more than 50 books. He GMH.

After months of reading FML, I recently discovered GMH. Everyday I began my daily visit of sites, first FML then GMH. Today I realized I visited GMh without even thinking of FML. GMH.

One day, while heavily pregnant with me, my mother fainted on the sidewalk. A homeless man she had never seen before made sure she got the hospital safely. Out of gratitude, my parents paid for his art courses at a local art school. 20 years later, and on every holiday, he sends my 4 year old beautiful picture books he illustrated himself. GMH

I've been struggling with an eating disorder for years and weigh myself obsessively throughout the day. This morning, there was a post-it note covering the numbers on my scale that said "you're beautiful".

A mentally disabled boy at my high school was nominated for homecoming king. Many of us suspected that it was a cruel joke to humiliate him. When the football team found out about his nomination, they rallied and campaigned for him. He won. Their kindness GMH.

My older sister just won her battle with cancer, but she still wears a wig.

This morning in our bathroom she was putting it on, when our 9 year old brother comes in and tells her "You are very pretty with the wig, but without it, you're the most beautiful person in the world."

At the grocery store I work at, a young lady with a baby just got done scanning her cartfull or groceries, but both of her cards were denied and she had no cash. She quietly asked to have them put back, when the man behind her said 'I'll pay for them' and smiled. They were total strangers. GMH

While at the mall, a friend and I spotted an elderly man sitting alone on a bench. We bought a card, and wrote a happy message inside, gave it to him, and walked away. About an hour later, he found us again, and said our card had lifted his spirits immensely, as his wife had just died a few weeks ago. He then handed us both a pretty pink rose. GMH.

Last year we had an awful physics teacher, the whole class was failing. This teacher who actually taught Biology, who didn't teach Physics took pity on us. He went out that night, bought all the GCSE Physics guides in WHSmiths, read through them, and learnt GCSE Physics over the weekend, just so that he could teach it us, after school. He GMH.

Over the summer, this 6-year-old (and quite effeminate) boy attending the summer camp I worked at was telling me about his favourite hot pink sandals that he wears, given to him by his father. A father who can accept his little boy for who he is GMH.

When I was nine, I went to pay for a fancy gold-rimmed journal at Barnes and Noble and explained that this was the journal I was going to write my first book in. When the man rung me up, I was $6 short. He paid for the rest, saying the world needed writers like me. My first book is almost done, and it's written entirely in that journal. He GMH.

Today, I found out that the police arrested my parents for abusing me. Who's going to be my new guardian? My 25-year-old brother, whom I haven't seen in 7 years. He reported them, and is keeping his promise of coming back to save me. I love you, B. You GMH

My brother and his friend play outside a lot. Whenever someone walks by, they start a genuine conversation with them and walk with them for a few blocks. Many people have called my home telling us how it made their day. My brother GMH

My mother's Romanian caregiver who lives in a bad part of town and gets no break, still manages to wear his"I Love the USA" shirt everyday. GMH.

To the girl at the gym who said she wouldn't get a prom date because she was too "fat":

There's a really beautiful freshman in our school who a mentally challenged sophomore boy has a huge crush on. She got asked by at least 10 people to the winter formal dance, but she decided to go with the mentally challenged boy. Beautiful girls who are also beautiful inside GMH.

Today, I heard a story on the radio about a little girl who sold ALL of her toys on Ebay. Why? She wanted to buy bulletproof vests for our county's police dogs. She is only 6. Her selfless, caring, innocence GMH

Everyday before school my senior year, I would volunteer with disabled kids. On prom night, I noticed they weren't dancing with each other. I asked my date if it was okay to leave him for a slow dance to be with the kids, and he not only let me but danced with one of the disabled kids himself. GMH

Today I decided to get out of the house and just drive around.

I saw a man standing on the corner dancing around listening to his iPod. He was holding a sign that said "Everything is OK." He flashed me a smile and a thumbs up.

After having such an awful week, seeing his positive attitude and enjoyment of life GMH.

Today, it snowed. I began to get ready to go outside and shovel but when I looked outside I saw that my entire sidewalk and walkway had already been shoveled.

It was done by my next door neighbor, who is at least older than 50. He has been doing this every time it snows for as long as I can remember, without asking for anything in return. His kindness GMH

A month ago i was volunteering at a cancer camp, and a little boy going through chemo, with no hair, pulled out grass and made himself a wig. A boy with a grass wig GMH.

5 years ago, a friend from OK and I were talking about how we hardly ever get snow in TX. He said that he wished he could make it snow for me. Two years later, he died suddenly. By the time I found out, I had already missed the funeral. That same day, it snowed. Then it snowed again on my birthday. In April. Knowing he's watching over me GMH.

I was at the mall the other day when I saw an old couple sitting together. The man looked over at the woman and said,

"Jane, we did it. We grew old together."

The look in her eyes GMH.

Over the summer, my boyfriend passed away from cancer. When none of my other friends wanted to be near me, my old college roommate spent all the money she earned over the summer so she could fly over from another country and spend a week making me food and holding my hand while I cried. She GMH.

Today was the memorial service for a 2009 graduate of my high school: Jenni Davis.

According to several people who knew Jenni well, one of her last wishes was to see snow; tonight during her memorial service, it truly snowed for the time in Charleston in nearly twenty years.

I recently learned that every time my parents were fighting when I was younger, my big sister would tell me a story, or listen to music with me & have a dance party. Even if her boyfriend was over, she would embarrass herself to let me have a happy childhood. To this very day, my sister GMH.

Today, I got a request on facebook - it was a request to add a sibling. I'm an only child, but my boyfriend's brother added me as his sister. I truly think this relationship will work, his family is constantly making me feel loved. His acceptance GMH.

Three years ago, a friend of mine died in a car accident due to drunk driving. I've taken care of her son ever since and today he hugged me and told me that he wished I married his mom before she died. I was driving the car. GMH

My brother has cerebral palsy, so growing up I spent a lot of time at appointments with him. One visit a woman ran out into the waiting room hysterical and grabbed the receptionists phone and dialed a number. She screamed "he walked, they said he'd never walk!"

My senior year, I was the only girl in one of my classes and was always teased by them for it. I still baked for every one of them on their birthday, expecting nothing back. My birthday was the last in the class. I walked in that day to 17 boys holding plates of cookies. They each baked for me, without talking to eachother about it. Those boys GMH

Every year, the graduating 8th grade class votes for superlatives. The teachers add up the votes. When 'Jordan A' was announced for Most Inspirational, teachers were in tears to see our entire class who never get along, give a standing ovation. He died in a fire in fourth grade and we still consider him part of our class.

Two years ago, I tried to kill myself by swallowing a bottle of painkillers. My online friend, who I'd never met, was the only person who knew. He called 911, they pumped my stomach to save my life. Today, I got my bachelor's degree in sociology. I'm now going to grad school. GMH

The other day I was babysitting for a 7 year old boy and he asked me if a boy had ever kissed me. When I told him no he grabbed my hand and planted a big kiss on it. His love GMH

Today, I was in the parking lot and passed an extremely dirty car. The car had a sticker on the window that said "My brother fights for our freedom." Above it, written in the dirt, said "God bless him" with an arrow pointing toward the sticker. Random thankfulness GMH.

Almost daily on my way home from work I would pass the same homeless man, and sometimes give him money when I had cash on me. One day he was suddenly gone. A week went by, then a couple months, then one day I bumped into him. He was dressed quite well, and handed me $100.00 and said "thanks, I finally got a job." GMH

Today, I was eating lunch in my college's cafeteria. All of a sudden, the whole room starting singing happy birthday to Jeffery. Jeffery is a custodian for the cafeteria that has down syndrome. My school's acceptance GMH

One day, after substituting at a pretty tough high school, I was walking to my car, feeling rather beaten. I looked up to see one of the tenth graders who had given me trouble walking through the parking lot holding his 10-yr-old sister's hand, carrying her Dora the Explorer backpack. Love GMH.

Today was my little brother's birthday and he's been begging for a birthday party. The thing is, he's autistic and doesn't have any friends, but i couldn't tell him no. I told some of my friends about the situation, and they agreed to come spend the day with him. My friends are 17 year old boys. Their generous love for my little brother GMH.
