My little sister Lilly was abducted.

She had been gone for 6 months when the searching stopped. My mother laid her soul to rest, and we went on with our lives.

Everyone except my father. He looked for 3 years and found her almost lifeless in a downstairs cellar, wearing chains.

Just as I felt like giving up, my best friend died in a car crash. It turned out a week before she had registered as an organ donor. Thanks to her, I am alive two years later.

I JUST HAD surgery, and although I have not been in too much pain, I have been nauseous for weeks, and I was having trouble eating when I was back in school today.

My best friend sat next to me and fed me my entire lunch, bite by bite, so I could just focus on keeping it down.

The night before I left a 7 year old boy pulled me to the side and showed me a small pencil box which contained all the posessions he owned. One day ago, I heard that a nine year old boy now had her heart.

15 years ago, a wheelchair-bound woman with an incurable illness discovered she was pregnant.

The doctors warned her of the risks she had not only for herself, but for the baby if she did not have an abortion.

5 days ago, my mom passed away.

While I was at her house getting my things, I found a stuffed bear with a voice recorder I hadn't seen in years. I pushed the button to play it.

The sound was my mom saying "Love you, night night. Sweet dreams."

Today, I watched a news about a six-year old girl who was burned from a fire that started in their home.

Her face and her right arm were badly burned. She could've been saved from the burns if she didn't come back to the burning house to save her 3-year old brother.

Once, at a college party some 15 year old girls showed up.

They got really drunk, and one of them started stripping on the dance floor. Seeing other guys eyeing her, some boys put their jackets around her and took her home.

In the elementary school near my house, there is an loving teacher who serves as a safety crosswalk officer for the children going to school.

One day, a drunk driver was speeding down the street. I witnessed her jumping in front of the child in its path and was killed. The child was not touched.

My brother has Down Syndrome and doesn't speak very well. This week while we were down the beach he tried to learn how to skim board.He would try and ask the other boys how they did it and they would laugh at him and walk away. The last day 4 teenage boys spent hours with him teaching him. They were so patient. He wouldn't stop smiling :)They GMH.

My mom once told me that when she was younger my grandma had been robbed leaving work. Her purse had all her money, credit cards, and pictures of her children. The next day she found the purse on her front porch, nothing was missing but there was an extra $100 and note apologizing and wishing her luck raising four children.GMH.

My brother got in legal trouble at age 18.

He did community service at a soup kitchen. As they were closing, a man walked in and asked if he was too late for dinner. The head chef apologized; he was. The man burst into tears.

My brother stayed extra late to make him something - and it didn't even count towards his sentence.

I suffer from depression and low self esteem and felt like venting my sadness. A kind online boy from a game I was playing at the time listened to my problems and gave me inspiring advice, showing me that life is worth living- even though he had no idea who I was. There are but two boys in my high school who have openly admitted they are gay.

When my best friend and I were young, we went to a fantasy gift shop together. We both wanted to buy Harry Potter wands, but my friend's mom wouldn't pay for hers. My mom offered to pay for both, but the salesmen told us he'd give us a special buy-one-get-one-free discount as long as we used them against Voldemort. We laughed and it GMH.

A boy in my class has a syndrome which causes him to have freak outs.

When he began yelling because his pencil wouldn't sharpen, instead of laughing, a boy bounded out of his seat and said "Hey, don't worry buddy, I got your back," and gave him an extra pencil.

The class stopped laughing. GMH

A young boy walked proudly into the restaurant that i wait tables on with his grandmother, ordered two seats and clumsily carried his grandmothers purse for her to their table.

When i asked him what the special occasion was, he smiled and said "it's my grandma's birthday and since grandpa is in heaven, I'm her date!"

I'm a deaf high school student. Last week was School Spirit Week, and one activity last week was to dress up as an inspirational person you knew or knew about. I went to school without dressing up like anyone, and when I got to school I found that 20 or 30 kids had dressed up like ME! I cried because they understood what I go through. They GMH.

I woke up one morning to hear the birds outside my window and my mother cooking breakfast downstairs. I've never cried so much in my entire life. I had been deaf since the age of 8.

Two years ago, I took my 21 year old mentally slow cousin to Disneyland.

When we went to meet the Princesses, without a moments hesitation Cinderella went up to her and said, "Oh, it's so lovely to meet another princess!"

I volunteered at my local hospital and saw this old couple; a man sat in a chair, holding his wife's hand on the bed and I heard her say,

"Promise you won't waste your last years missing me when I'm gone, Bill?" and he smiled and said,

"Sure. Promise you won't blame me when I break it?"

Three generations graduated from a University on the same day. 1) A girl, 21, who raised a child while in school. 2) Her mom, 42, took classes part-time for 7 years while raising a family and working two jobs. 3) her grandma, who works full time, and went back to school after raising 6 kids. As the nurse was putting betadine on my arm, I look over to see on of the senior girls from my class. She is terrified of needles and was trembling as she gave blood. When I asked her she gave a simple response: Fear shouldn't stop you from doing something right.

A girl I went to high school with was diagnosed with Leukimia her Junior year. She lost all of her hair due to the chemotherapy and was pretty upset about it. One day, eight of her closest friends came to school with shaved heads, saying it was just hair, and who cared - bald is the new in. GMH

A little girl was dying of cancer and her younger brother had a match for the bone marrow she needed. The doctors told him it was a matter of life and death. After he had the surgery, he asked the doctors how long he had to live. He thought if he gave his bone marrow to let his sister live he would die but he did it anyway. GMH

When I was 15 I tried to kill myself by taking an entire bottle of pills. I went and laid on the top bunkbed so that I could die and then I heard my baby brother laugh. I used to work as a restaurant hostess. One day, a gentleman came in, obviously hung over, and asked me to find a particular server for him. Today I found out about a 10-year-old boy who has been harrassed by his classmates because he refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Why? He says that until gays and lesbians have equal rights, there isn't really "liberty and justice for all". Kids with the courage to stand up for their fellow human beings GMH.

I read on MSNBC an 11-yr-old graduated from college with honors and a degree in astrophysics. He's also a national martial arts champion, and he's writing a book teaching kids how to succeed in school. "I feel it's a waste of time playing video games because it's not helping humanity in any way." He wants to use his knowledge to change the world. GMH

My sister and I are total opposites.

She is a perfect student who was headed for Columbia. I got expelled from two high schools and barely graduated. Miraculously I was accepted to a university. My sister found out how much my tuition was and decided to attend our state university instead so my parents could pay my tuition.

At my college graduation everyone is allowed to take a loved one with them as they walk across the stage. The last girl to walk across held the arm of her 90 year old grandpa. As they crossed the stage the chancelor read her grandfathers name. He graduated 60 years ago but didn't get to walk his own graduation because he was fighting in WWII. GMH.

Off-duty police officer Kimberly Munley threw herself into raging gunfire and was shot three times at Fort Hood to successfully save hundreds of soldiers. She GMH.

A few years ago I was at the boardwalk with my cousins, one of which is autistic. He liked the music that was on so he was dancing outside of the food court area. A group of girls took out their phones and started video taping him and laughing. His sister immediately jumped in and danced as crazily as he was dancing. Her lack of inhibitions GMH.

The homosexual boy in my senior class was not harassed, bashed, or mocked for his sexuality. As a matter of fact at our senior prom he was voted prom king AND prom queen, and he received a standing ovation from our entire class as he cat walked across every foot of the stage. GMH!

I used to be best friends with this girl, then through our sophmore year we faded apart.

Yesterday I got a text saying she had a feeling she was being called by God to talk to me. 20 minutes later I had a seizure in the middle of the mall. I'm 16, and that calling let me know God was watching over me.

When I was a child I had just been yelled at by my parents, and went down to cry beside my pet rat's cage.

When she noticed I was crying, she walked to her food bowl, grabbed a cracker, and handed it to me through the bars.

I met a 16 year old genius who was in medical school, studying to be a pediatric neurosurgeon.

He put every dollar he made at his job into a retirement fund. Why? He wanted to be able to retire at age 30, so that he could spend the rest of his life performing brain surgeries for free.

Last February, a the radio station my little sister listens to was holding a fundraiser for St. Jude's Hospital. They were playing songs while families told their stories about how cancer had affected their lives. My sister donated all her money she had ever gotten ($450) to St. Jude's. She's 5. GMH

Today, I came out of the closet to my extremely-Christian parents after hiding it in fear for more than seven years. They hugged me and told me that no matter what path I chose, they would always love me for who I am. :) GMH

I was always shy in high school, new to the area, felt like people didn't care, & just lived in the background. Then at graduation I got an award for never missing a day of school since kindergarten & as I walked onstage, everyone gave me a standing ovation. It was the happiest I've ever felt. GMH

My friend reported on a quiet girl in class, admiring her kindness. We all cheered in agreement. The girl was crying.

Later, I found out that was the day she'd decided not to kill herself. GMH

Other people's boyfriends take them out for elaborate meals, and buy them Tiffany bracelets. My boyfriend, though, is eighteen, lives by himself, goes to school, pays rent and has no money. Our dates are nights in with movies. When I see him going through his change jar to treat me to some chocolate, it makes me wanna cry. His love GMH.

I was very close to my grandfather. When he died suddenly, I couldn't deal with it; my job performance got really bad.

I later learned that my boss was being pressured to fire me because of it. He refused, saying that to give up on me would be like giving up on his daughter.

In San Fran this little girl decided she wanted to help feed the homeless. She set a goal of raising $1000. The San Fransico Food bank "told her several agencies had pledged to provide $9 in food for every $1 donated to the food bank". She eventually raised $3736, which equalled $33,624 worth of food or 17,971 meals. She's only 5 & in preschool.GMH

A few months ago, my dad and I were visiting New York.

We saw a homeless mother with 3 young kids sitting by a doorway of a store. While the children were bundled up warm, the mother had only a thin flimsy jacket. Seeing this, my dad handed her a $100 bill, telling her to buy herself a coat. She cried from happiness.

When my abusive mother saw, she dragged me into the house. A boy followed us and when he saw my mother hitting me he got his own parents. SS were called and I was relocated to live with that family.

A while ago I saw a middle-aged couple walking together holding hands and smiling. They looked so completely in love and proud of it that I still remember it clearly to this day. They were walking in the city with a few dozen people near them and a street full of cars. They were both men. I have never believed in true love as much as I did then.

I've been recovering from years of depression and self-harm. My boyfriend has been helping me recover every step of the way, by funding my treatment and making sure I'm never alone. Today I was feeling really down about myself. He tossed me my dictionary and said to look up "beautiful." He had taped in my picture. It's the little things that GMH

I'm dying of lupus at age 17. I was brought home from the hospital to have my last week. I've been an avid Harry Potter fan for many years, and my mother is desperatly trying to find a way for me to see the new Harry Potter theme park. Little does she know, her love through all of this is far better than a day in Hogsmeade. She GMH.

Yesterday while I was working, a father with his daughter came in with two bags of toys. He told me they had just come from her 6th birthday party, and I assumed they had a bunch of returns. The girl then proceeded to tell me that instead of getting gifts, she asked all her friends to bring presents to donate to our toy drive. GMH.

I stopped by the house of the little girl I babysit today to say hi, although I was busy with college apps and didn't want to stay long. She ran to get me a story that she's been writing. Guess who the main character is? She remembered all the names of my family, as well as the colleges I'm interested in. I smiled so hard that my face hurt. GM

For the past four years, the most beautiful, popular girl in my school has run an active anti-bullying campaign, always helping anyone she could. Yesterday, she lost her own battle with cancer. Today, almost every person in my entire school, staff and students, are wearing blue anti-bullying bracelets in support of her. RIP Chelsea Thomas, you GMH

I work with kindergarten children, and when a little girl wet her pants, we decided to give her dress up clothes to wear.

She was very upset and embarrassed so a little boy in the class put on a cinderella dress and held her hand the rest of the day, saying "look - everyone's laughing at ME!"

Today, I finally ended a relationship with a hurtful and manipulative boyfriend because of this website. Reading the stories people post on this taught me that there is too much good in this world for me to put up with something like that, just because I don't want to be alone. You all GMH

A few years ago, a four year old girl in my town asked Make a Wish for her miracle.

Her wish? "That everyone does something nice for a friend they haven't met yet".

In the hospital, I passed Cynthia's room, a baby girl with cancer.

Due to her family living far away and having no car, she's spent most of the past year getting treatment alone in the hospital. Tonight, I passed her room and her dad lay in her bed rocking her to sleep. He walked across town just to kiss her goodnight.

Today, the pastor of my church anounced that his 19-year-old daughter was pregnant out of wed-lock.

As the pastor's wife began to cry, a little boy ran up to her and hugged her saying, "It's okay! Babies are the best thing in the world, no matter what." GMH

My father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away 4 years ago. Recently, I stopped by his online blog. I found out my son had been leaving him comments, saying things like how he missed him, and how he is studying hard in school, and that he would study hard to find a cure to cancer so that people wont miss their grandfather like he does. Ten years ago, my friend made an enemy. They didn't click at all and I think my friend really hurt that person. Flash forward. My friend is broke w/ kids, & after getting into huge trouble, really needed a lawyer and was referred to one. The lawyer was her old enemy & she took the case. For free.

During WWII, my family's home in Western Russia was pillaged by the German Army.

After the fall of communism, an elderly man showed up to the now rebuilt house. He told my grandmother that he was a former German soldier, and he wanted to return the jewelry he stole from the house.

My freshmen year of highschool a sophmore girl with mental problems was elected to homecoming court as a cruel joke of some popular girls in her grade.

When our senior class president found out about this, he ditched his date, who was one of the leaders of the prank. He then asked the mentally disabled girl if he could be her escort to the dance.

I made cookies, put them in bags, and sent my siblings to school. Later, my dad got a call from a worried parent who had seen them leave school in the wrong direction.

Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of four years in a nice restaurant. When she said yes, the entire restaurant stood up and applauded.

I like to dress up like Marilyn Manson, so this often gets me stares from strangers on the street, and not in the good way. While waiting on the bus stop, this woman asks me to carry her baby for her while she was looked for something. I was surprised that she wasn't openly avoiding me, much more let me carry her baby. Looking past stereotypes GMH.

When my sister was younger she came home from school one day and demanded I take her to the library so she could get books on sign language.

I asked why? She told me there was a new kid at school who was deaf and she wanted to befriend him.

Today I stood beside her at their wedding watching her sign "I DO". GMH

Today is my friend's 16th birthday, he died on the 22nd of December 2009.

I found out a few days ago that he passed away when shots were fired after he saved a 15 year old girl from being raped by 3 men. She got away.

I work in an ICU, and yesterday while on shift I noticed that the same elderly man had been sleeping in the waiting room for four days. I asked him why he didn't go home for a sleep. Turns out he is the husband of a woman in isolation on the ward. In his words "We've been married 65 years, I couldn't sleep without her there anyway."

Yesterday, it was late and I was heading to my car in the parking lot after work and three young guys come up to me and start talking. I was scared, until one draped his arm around me and silently showed me a text on his phone, telling me there was a dodgy guy following me and that they would make sure I got to my car safely. Their kindness GMH.

My dad has a job that requires him to do quite a bit of travelling. Every time he goes away, no matter how short the trip, he hides a card for my mom somewhere in the house. She always finds it with a picture, a quote, or a message telling her how much he misses her. They've been married 25 years. My parents enduring love and romance GMH.

I work at a movie theater and we have these loyalty coupons that people can sign up for. They save almost 3 dollars off our combos at concessions. Everyday I see random people giving extra coupons to the people either in front of them or behind them in line so they can save money too. Those people GMH.

Last summer, I went to Iowa for a week to visit my friends grandparents with her. One night I was walking up the stairs to go to sleep and I heard her grandpa's voice. I asked why he was up so late, and she responded "My grandpa still reads to my grandma at night." Their love GMH.

Five years ago I was raped and left for dead in the woods.

A morning jogger found me and carried me to the local hospital. The stranger stayed by my side knowing I was an emancipated minor. He took care of me and the child. Two years later, we sit here at home with our baby girl.

This year I got divorced. When it came time to split our tax return like we'd agreed, at the last minute my ex-husband wrote me a check for the entire refund, even though he was completely entitled to half. It was $3000. Today, I was dealing with several final projects, when I realized at midnight that I had left my laundry in the dryer for several hours.

Worried it would be stolen, I rushed over to the laundry room to find all of my laundry neatly folded on a table, waiting for me.

I still have no idea who did it, but it's the little things in life that GMH.

When I was 11 years old, about a month before my dad passed, he was almost completely paralyzed and the doctors we sure he would never be able to speak again. Just out of the blue, he said my name. They called me and put him on the phone, and he said he loved me three times. GMH.

Three months ago, my stepfather died. We had no money to pay for the funeral. We got a call from my stepfather's ex-wife, of all people, saying that she would pay for the entire funeral and any other expenses. She flew all the way across the country to attend the funeral and help my mother. People like her GMH.

Today on Facebook I found a group created by a guy who found someone's camera while traveling. He really wants to return the camera, which is full of memories, but has no idea who it belongs to. 230,000 people have joined the group to pass along the message. Kindness GMH.

UPDATE: The good will of 250,000 people created a stir that rippled into an office in London, where a group of French people were recognized, one being the owner.

Two weeks before my senior prom and graduation I was attacked by a dog and had a huge chunk of my top lip missing. I was so upset and didn't even want to go to prom looking like that. My friends encouraged me to go and when the limousine picked me up they all had matching bandages on their mouths. They kept them on all night. GMH.

On 11/11 at 11:11pm, on top of the Empire State Building, my boyfriend told me to make a big wish, because i couldn't have one like it for a whole year. Moments later, he asked me to marry him. His 11:11 wish? That I would say yes. We've been married three months. The fact that fairy tales do come true GMH.

A deaf man was assaulted and his laptop, cell phone and hearing aids were stolen. Upon hearing the news, a company fitted him with top-of-the-line hearing aids, Best Buy gave him a cell phone and a couple, who wished to remain anonymous, bought him a Macbook so he could continue his studies. GMH.

A month ago at my school, a transgender student was beaten to the ground for standing up to three other students who said that our campus hates gays. The next day, nearly half the entire campus rallied to show support of the LGBT community in the quad. The student that was beaten was crying. GMH.

Years ago, my cousin was in school with a guy who was teased for being himself, and made fun of for being a guy and liking to sing.

My cousin encouraged him to pursue his dreams of being a singer. The next year he tried out for American Idol. His name? Clay Aiken.

A long time ago, I went to see a band at a small club in Chicago, the band was unknown and broke.

After the show, they scraped up enough money to go and buy fast food for all the homeless men near the club.

Today, I took a stroll through Manhattan, and I saw a man put a quarter in a parking meter. He then put a quarter in every parking meter that needed time on it so they wouldn't get towed. GMH

I was crying after a bad day. My three year old brother came into my room and cuddled in bed with me. When I didn't acknowledge him, he went out to the kitchen and came back with an ice cream sandwich and his favorite stuffed animal. He put them in bed beside me and petted my hair. His love GMH

Today I was eating lunch at the mall and noticed a girl about 16 years old nonchalantly putting quarters in every single candy machine on the first floor. She then took an escalator to the second floor and watched with a smile as kids became happy and excited when they discovered the money. She GMH.

My Dad came from a very devout Catholic family.

When he married my Mom, a Jew, many of his family members cut themselves off from him. Despite this, my Dad's mom always remembers to send us cards on every important Jewish holiday, even though she is Catholic.

The other day, I was being picked on at school as usual when I felt a sticky post it note being taped to my back. Thinking it said "Kick Me" or somthing along those lines, I ripped it off and was about to throw it away when I saw that it said "Ignore the bullies - you're beautiful," It made my day. GMH.

4 years ago my best friend died due to gang violence.

He wasn't part of a gang; I was. He saved my life. At his funeral his mother came up to me. Rather then blaming me, she told me she thought I had a lot of potential. I now live a violence free life and I'm in college.

A boy was dying of cancer and needed an expensive brain surgery, but his family, broke and desperate, couldn't afford it. His 8 yr old took sister Tess took her piggy bank savings to a pharmacist in order to buy a 'miracle'. it just so happens that the right man witnessed the little girl's tears at the pharmacy counter: a neurosurgeon. He performed the surgery for free.

Last year, my friend told me he got into his dream college, but couldn't go because it cost too much.

He gave up his acting dreams to go to another college. His parents are selling both their house and cars so he can go to his first choice.

Today I took him to the park. He spotted a teenage girl there, and walked right up to her and said "hi". That girl played with my son for an hour. He can't stop talking about her.

A little girl in my area was hit by a car and died. She was 2 years old, and raised by a single mother who could not afford a headstone for her daughter's grave.

Inmates at a local prison heard her story and wanted to help. They saved $670 out of their monthly salaries to give this girl a proper burial.

Last weekend I was working at a restaurant for homecoming. Lots of groups of students came in to eat. One particularly large group pulled a dine & dash on me, leaving me with a $500 bill coming out of my paycheck. About a year ago, my 16 year old golden retriever was diagnosed with glaucoma, and eventually went blind. Every night until he died, my mom would throw his tennis ball at least 20 time across the backyard. He came back with it every time. His constant determination to overcome any obstacle GMH.

I was diagnosed as a diabetic when I was five years old.

My brother who was turning three at the time saw me cry after getting an insulin shot. He walked over to my mom and asked, 'Mom, can I have diabetes, too? I don't want her to be alone.'

I was at a fast food resturant today when I saw a homeless man being teased by these boys from school.

Then I see a shy teenage girl employee also from school buy a huge meal for a homeless guy right in front of those boys.. the most popular boys at school.

A week ago I was walking down the road when I encountered two homeless men about twenty yards apart.

One homeless man was getting more change than the other, so he decided to walk over and spare some of his change for his fellow beggar.

When me and my boyfriend broke up. I cried on the bus all the way home, surrounded by people. An elderly lady on her way to do a night shift came and sat next to me. Giving me tissues and talking about my problems, she were there when others weren't. I never did get her name.. GMH.

Yesterday, my husband told me he'd be coming home in 6 days. Today, he was killed on a mission in Iraq. He is gone at 23. I fell to the floor. An hour later, his 17 yr old sister was on the floor reading me the letters he sent her about his love for us. Selfless teenagers biking 4 miles GMH.

About 15 years ago, it was illegal to have more than one child in China.

I was the second child. My parents gave up their houses, jobs, money and country just to have me.

Last year, my teacher told us about a student of hers whose dad was working as a doorman in the World Trade Center during 9/11.

Instead of leaving when the plane hit, he stayed behind and ushered everyone out as calmly as he could. The building collapsed on him.

A few months ago, my brother was in hospital.

The day after he was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy, his heart stopped. He was technically dead for over 20 minutes. Usually, the paramedics give up after 20 minutes, but they kept going until my parents got to the hospital.

Whilst waiting in the freezing cold for my train back from Scotland, a man approached me and asked if I wanted a free cup of tea.

He then proceeded to buy cups of hot tea and coffee for everyone else in the train station as well. There was about 40 of us and thanks to his selfless kindness, we all stayed warm.

When I was 9, my best friend Catie was from a broken home. Her mother dropped her off at my house a few days before her birthday. She didn't pick her up for a week. My parents threw Catie an entire birthday party, complete with cake, decorations, and lots of presents, I can still remember Catie's smile and it GMH.

There is a boy in my high school named Andrew who has a mental disability and cannot walk properly.

One day he fell over in the hallway and couldn't get up, instead of the crowd trampling him in the hallway, 10 popular senior students ran over to help him up.

Today i got a text from my boyfriend instructing me to go into my bedroom for 15 minutes.

When he text me to come out again, i walked into a flood of pink balloons. He told me he'd blown up all 730 of them by himself -- one for each day I've fought cancer.

A few years ago I was living with my best friend, he was very into the way he looked but everywhere he went with me he walked around with a studded belt around his forehead, so people wouldn't just stare at me in my halo brace GMH

When my dad suddenly died, my girlfriend came with me to my parents' house for a week where she cooked every meal, babysat my three nieces, fed the dog, cleaned the house, and spent a lot of her own money on groceries. I later learned her boss didn't want to let her have the week off, so she quit her job to hold my family together. Her love GMH.

While riding a hotel bus to Disney Magic Kingdom, I overheard a father telling his young daughter they would be taking the ferry to another area. The young girl looked up at her dad and asked, "What will the fairy be wearing?" Yes, for children Disney is a magical place where dreams come true...like riding a fairy. GMH

I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and often have flashbacks. My best friend was with me when I was having a bad one. Last week, a very hateful group announced that would be protesting outside my college's center for Jewish life. They planned to carry hateful signs and to jeer at Jewish students. During WWII, my friend's grandpa was captured and tortured, but he refused to reveal his mission. The japanese said if he didn't spill, they would kill the other five captured men. He wouldn't budge. He escaped, but he had to live with their blood on his hands. 25 years later, he found out they all lived. Not a single one talked. GMH

Inspired by GMHs we've been reading, my fiancee wrote a message for Erica, our pleasant-natured teenage server at the pizza place we were at: "You are a BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING server! Thanks for being so nice and have a WONDERFUL day!" We made a pact to do this at every restaurant we go to!

Today, my aunt dragged me along to the mall to go shopping. While in the store, she critisized me, calling me fat and comparing me to 'Ugly Betty'. When I walked out of the store, a boy held the door open and whispered 'I don't know what she's talking about'. GMH.

Today I decided to get out of the house and just drive around.

I saw a man standing on the corner dancing around listening to his iPod. He was holding a sign that said "Everything is OK." He flashed me a smile and a thumbs up.

A story came up about a 2nd grade girl who was diagnosed with leukemia and lost her hair. A boy in her class not ONLY shaved his head so she wouldnt be alone, he also got their whole class to do it too. I cried.

A few years ago, my dad got me 12th row seats to a concert I really wanted to go to. Last minute I found out I couldn't go. My dad gave the tickets at no charge to a coworker and her 15 yr-old daughter who had a disease that would surely kill her before she graduated high school. She called me the next day saying it was the best day of her life. GMH

I'm 17 and I tutor/babysit a 7th grader. One day he asked me why I didn't have a boyfriend.

I told him I didn't know. He replied, ''It's because you're too pretty and too nice. No boy deserves you.''

I'm a mailwoman, and today was cold, wet and disgusting. When I was putting the mail in someone's foyer, a woman opened the door and handed me a thermos of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Thank you for brightening my rainy day! GMH

My family and I were shocked to hear that my aunt and uncle had sold their gorgeous home and bought an old armory. They had already raised two children and could have relaxed and retired in 10-15 years. They're turning the armory into a battered women and children's shelter. GMH.

My husband is deployed and I am 2 weeks in of being a 'single' mom of 2.

I was in the bathroom having a cry, since I refuse to let my kids see me upset. I walked out and my 3yr old hugged my legs, looked up at me, and said "I miss daddy too... We can cry together."

I work at Tim Hortons, and everyday when we close we have to throw out all of the donuts, muffins, bagels etc. Yesterday, 5 minutes before we closed a lady came in and asked what we do with all the food at the end of the day, we told her we have to throw it out. My little brother has cerebral palsy and can't talk. One day my pastor spoke about the orphans he met overseas during a mission trip. After the service my brother approached my pastor, tapped him on the shoulder, pointed to the pictures of the orphans, and gave him all of his allowance. He GMH.

When I was in high school, I got asked to prom by a boy in the CDC. I said yes. Even though he was in a wheelchair he ended up dancing with every girl there. I've never seen him smile so much in my life. His mom thanked me a hundred times for going to prom with him, because it made his night. GMH

My friend Emily really wanted to go to a concert.. They've made such a difference in her life, saving her from suicide and such, but she didn't have the money to go. It turns out that the band actually took notice of it through her Myspace, and arranged for her to receive a free backstage pass. GMH!

One of my brothers has had heart problems from birth. One year, he couldn't go trick-or-treating because he was in the hospital for a surgery. My other brother went trick-or-treating that year with two bags--one for himself, and one for his younger brother. It still GMH.

My family & I got seperated in New York City when I was little. Scared, I sat crying on the sidewalk as tons of people passed by. A homeless man picked me up, comforted me, & carried me to a police officer, who found my parents. He had a long beard & I asked if he was Jesus. He laughed so hard he cried. He GMH.

I work in a coffee shop, and every time I make a hot chocolate for someone, I like to draw a pattern in chocolate sauce on the froth relevant to what I think they'd like. Smiley faces for little boys, love hearts and butterflies for the girls and sometimes, if I'm really lucky and hear their name, the first letter. Their laughter GMH.

A few years ago, I was sitting on a bus in the Dominican Republic with many other tourists waiting to go back to our resort. It was hot and many children were complaining to their parents. Then one man got up, counted the children and got off the bus. He went to the ice cream shop and bought every child an ice cream cone. He GMH and ice cream.

A woman my mom works with has cancer and has been out of work for a long time. She recently found out she has to be out for longer but doesn't have enough sick days left to cover it. Every nurse on my mom's floor at the hospital is donating at least one of their paid sick days to her so she can finish her treatment -- and get paid for it. GMH.

Saw this on FML: "Today, I went to buy lunch at a grocery store. The total was 3 pounds, and my card got rejected for insufficient funds. I fished about for change, and found I only had 2 pounds. A homeless man behind me in the queue then offered to give me the remaining pound. A homeless man paid my lunch. FML"

When I was 4 years old, my family went on a Disney cruise. I was so excited...but I ended up getting sea sick. As I gloomily watched the other kids play with Mickey, I felt a someone tap my shoulder. I'm in law enforcement, and one of my officers told me he attended church in a bad part of the city. He said that during the service, a drug dealer came in off of the street and put ALL of his drugs and a gun in front of the alter. He said call the cops, do what you have to, I give it all up today.

He went to the supermarket and bought a whole cart full of groceries with his own money, delivered it to them, and told them that donations from our church had paid for everything.

Two years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

When I took my marching band to a competition at my high school, the entire band showed up in the warm up arc with pink ribbons on their uniforms, and had an announcement read that their performance was in honor of my wife.

I was reading about a little kid whose mom told him the key to life was happiness. When he was in school the teacher asked them to write down what they wanted to be when they grew up. He said happy. They said he didn't understand the assignment. He said they didn't understand life. My generation GMH

A few years ago, my mom bought me a brand new digital camera.

One day I was riding the public bus and it managed to fall out of my bag, laying on the seat. 5 minutes after I got off the bus, a woman approached me with my camera.

The entire bus had waited for the woman to return the camera to me. GMH!

My 12 year old son has been fighting cancer for more than 7 years. Yesterday as he laid in his hospital bed, receiving chemo to prepare for a bone marrow transplant, he asked me for his wallet. He wanted to count his money to make sure he had enough to buy Christmas gifts for his siblings and an extra one... for toys for tots. My son ALWAYS GMH

Today, I was out to dinner when I saw a group of teenager girls dining together next to an old woman by herself. One of the girls asked the old woman to join them, and her face lit up as she accepted and moved over to their table. They GMH.

I was talking with this little girl I used to babysit for before I started college. I explained to her that I'd be gone for a while and would only see her when I came home for vacations. She said, "So you'll be gone for the whole year except summer and holidays?" I nodded. Then she said, "So you're going to Hogwarts?" GMH

One night I ran out of formula for my son, I couldn't wait until the next day so I took him with me to the store, it came up to 15 dollars & I only had 10. When I told the cashier to take 2 back this older TALL cowboy behind me said "babygirl, you get that baby what he needs." He paid for everything I had. Cowboy man GMH.

When I was 16, I tried to commit suicide, by jumping off a bridge into the river.

Tomorrow, I'll say "I do." to the man who risked his own life pulling me out.

Last week, my three year old daughter asked if she could send a letter to god asking why sparky, our 12 year old dog had to go to heaven. Later that day, she mailed that letter.

Two days later, we received a letter from an anonymous person saying that Sparky is fine and not to worry and that he will always be with us in memory.

I recently cut my hair and donated it to locks of love.

As I approached the counter to pay for the haircut, the receptionist informed me that the gentleman who was getting his hair cut a few seats down from me had paid for my haircut.

He thought it was a wonderful thing that I was doing and that I shouldn't have to pay to help someone else. GMH.

My brother was born with cerebral palsy, and we were told that he would never walk. At the age of 11 he ran a childs marathon around my school unaided. 200 children and 30 teachers burst into applause and tears at the same time. He is now 14 and training for the para-olympics as a runner. My brother GMH

Today, I came across a facebook group whose sole aim was to hate a classmate of mine.

I glanced down to see that the new boy at our school, who doesn't even know the recipient of the group and has no friends yet, had posted a long wall post about how wrong the group was. As I refreshed the page, the group number was going down and down.

Today, I took one of the children I work with to have to McDonalds. The child is 7 years old, autistic, has fetal alcohol syndrome and lives in a shelter with his grandmother.

Aware he was hungry, I asked him why he hadn't eaten his food and he smiled and answered

"I want to take it home to share it with my grandma." GMH

My grandma has been fighting cancer for years.

Today, she was breathing very hard and slow and couldn't open her eyes for several hours. When my dad put the phone next to her ear, I spoke to her telling her that I love her and how she inspires me.

I was told that she opened her eyes for me. GMH.

This spring, I helped out at my school's prom, monitoring the voting for prom queen and king. When the winners were announced, they came as no surprise. A very popular girl, and Shane, who had been surrounded by the prettiest girls all night. Oh, but Shane? He has Down Syndrome. My generation GMH.

A few months ago, I was at dinner with friends, and we ended up having an emotional talk (mostly about my self-esteem issues) and I cried for about half of dinner. When I got the receipt, the stunning waitress had written something across the top: "You're even beautiful when you cry." GMH

I use a power wheelchair on a college campus. One day, my chair battery died in the middle of campus with 3 more classes to attend and no way to get there. I quickly became a human baton, my 300 pound wheelchair being pushed though the rain by a series of strangers. I got to each of my classes and back home on time! Thank you relay team...you GMH!

I was at the store and I saw a really attractive guy in his twenties in a wheelchair. Just as I was thinking how terrible it was that someone so attractive had to lead such a different life and depend on others...he held the door open for me.

My family makes it a tradition to have pizza on Friday nights. Once the pizza box is empty it goes into the recycling bin until Tuesday morning. A homeless man always comes and goes through them before they get picked up. Driving home late Tuesday morning, he was there waiting for us, holding the pizza cutter we'd left in the box. His honesty GMH.

Found out today that my grandpa, a 91-year-old career Army colonel, will not fulfill his wish of being buried at the base he served his entire career at when he wasn't overseas. The reason? The cemetary is now full, and he donated his reserved plot to a 22-year-old soldier killed in action in Iraq. His honor GMH.

I work at an animal shelter. On Christmas Eve, just before closing, a rough, old cowboy pulled up to the shelter in a battered truck. He had been at the lake gathering firewood and had found a litter of puppies in a metal trash barrel. He tucked them all into a bunch of straw and drove 2 hours to bring them to the shelter. His goodwill GMH.

Every day since I started Chemistry my teacher has come into school at 6:30 AM so that I can get the extra help I need to get a scholarship to college, since I cannot afford it. The catch? He's not my Chem teacher. He's my history teacher, and is learning right along with me. His dedication GMH

On November 29th, 4 police officers were brutally murdered in a coffee shop in Washington.

During the memorial service, more than 20,000 people filled the Tacoma dome, and the procession was 2,100 cars long with the streets filled with people.

I have a little sister who suffers from mental retardation. My mother told her I was gay and that "gay people don't go to heaven'. My sister started sobbing saying, "It wouldn't be heaven if Paloma wasn't there." My sister's unconditional love GMH.

My parents are divorced, and right outside of my dad's apartment complex, there is a homeless man, living in a box. My dad recently got evicted, and sat beside the homeless man on the street. The man offered my father his box for the night. His kindness GMH.

When my mother was pregnant with me, doctors insisted I was mentally disabled and she needed an abortion. She refused, and soon gave birth to a perfect, healthy baby. Eighteen years later, I'm a straight A college student with the best mom ever. Her unconditional love, even before I was born, GMH.

When I was 13, I was attacked by a Great Dane. At hospital they said the surgeon that could repair the damage to my face had already left for the night. They called him and had barely given an explanation when he got out of bed at midnight, drove an hour to the hospital and stayed in surgery with me for the next seven hours. He GMH.

I help referee basketball games on Saturdays.

This past Saturday I saw one little boy score his first basket in the two years that he has been playing, but he unknowingly scored it on the wrong basket.

The fact that no one pointed out his mistake to him so he could enjoy his accomplishment, and seeing the look of pure joy on his face, GMH.

Every year, the graduating 8th grade class votes for superlatives.

When 'Jordan A' was announced for Most Inspirational, teachers were in tears to see our entire class who never get along, give a standing ovation.

He died in a fire in fourth grade and we still consider him part of our class.

I had my students write a paper about who they admired most. They had to read their papers out loud. One girl chose to write about her friend that had recently committed suicide. She started crying in the middle of reading her paper.

Two boys, one of whom was very shy, ran to the front of the class and hugged her... in front of everybody.

During college, I worked at a coffee shop in New Orleans. The morning shift started at 6 am. A coworker lived off campus and waited for the streetcar ~5:30 am (before sunrise). One morning, she waited with a man for 10-15 mins. As the streetcar arrived, she asked if he was getting on, and he said "No, I was just making sure you were safe." GMH.

My softball team was having a car wash to raise funds to buy some new jerseys.

While free donations were accepted, not many people were coming to support us. All of a sudden, a homeless man came up to us and gave us 78 cents and said "I don't have much, but I hope that this helps a little."

For 4 years, she did physical therapy and progressed to crutches.

When we graduated a few weeks ago, she handed her crutches to an officer and walked across the entire stage.

The applause from the seniors was deafening. She cried the whole way.

Today, I woke up and my wife was more beautiful than I'd ever seen her. We've been married 15 years. GMH

Three years ago, almost to the day, I left a note in a guy from my French class' textbook asking him to call me. That day, being the last day of school and the last day I would ever see him, I told him to check inside his book, before I ran away. We're still together. Take that chance.

This week we found out that our 18month puppy would need surgery to remove the ball of string she swallowed. The Animal Hosp was going to charge us $3000, which we could never afford. They let us bring her home to say goodbye, and we made arrangements with the local vet to put her to sleep. Instead he offered to do the surgery free. GMH.

A few years ago, I was driving to California and my truck broke down. I didn't have to money for a tow so i was stuck. Some woman stopped and gave me her credit card and her address and said to mail it back when I was done. She GMH.

I was at a diner with my wife. At the table next to us, there was a couple who were wearing tattered clothes. They ordered 1 dinner and planned to share it because they had only enough money for 1. The waiter brought them 2 of the same dinners by mistake. He said "Oops, my mistake. Enjoy!" He GMH.

About a year ago,I had a party at my house.

I was a little nervous about having people come over because my younger brother has autism and bipolar mania.

When my little brother wanted to come in to tell my friends about Pokemon,all the others told him to leave. Then my best friend stood up and took him to another room to talk about Pokemon. She GMH.
