Once during one of the hardest times of my life, I went to my room to cry for sometime. My sister, who rarely speaks to me made me a card that said "don't worry, bee happy" with a bee on it. She's 10. I pasted it up on my wall because it GMH

I woke up one morning to hear the birds outside my window and my mother cooking breakfast downstairs. I've never cried so much in my entire life. I had been deaf since the age of 8.

Every year, the graduating 8th grade class votes for superlatives. The teachers add up the votes. When 'Jordan A' was announced for Most Inspirational, teachers were in tears to see our entire class who never get along, give a standing ovation. He died in a fire in fourth grade and we still consider him part of our class.

In 1996, my family's home was set on fire about a month before school started. We lost everything and had to start all over again. That fall, i met a girl in my class who gave me half of her toys at random. Her reasoning for this was because she wanted me to have things to play with too. We were in Kindergarden.

Cancer claimed my daughter's life 3 years ago. Just a few weeks ago I attended what would have been her high school graduation. When the valedictorian and salutatorian, her friends, rose to give their speech, tears poured down my face. They dedicated their graduation to my daughter. GMH.

I rode the subway and ended up forgetting my purse and realizing it as the train sped away. I went to go talk to someone about it but no one could find it and I didn't have money to get back on the train so I started crying. That's when the janitor came over and handed me enough money to get home.

During college, I worked at a coffee shop in New Orleans. The morning shift started at 6 am. A coworker lived off campus and waited for the streetcar ~5:30 am (before sunrise). One morning, she waited with a man for 10-15 mins. As the streetcar arrived, she asked if he was getting on, and he said "No, I was just making sure you were safe." GMH.

I was at a bookstore and an obscure author was doing a book signing. Nobody was coming over--he looked dejected. Then three teenagers came over, got his autograph & took pictures with him. It looked like it made his day. Later, I talked to them and they said they had never read his books. GMH

My brother has Down Syndrome and doesn't speak very well. This week while we were down the beach he tried to learn how to skim board. He would try and ask the other boys how they did it and they would laugh at him and walk away. The last day 4 teenage boys spent hours with him teaching him. They were so patient. He wouldn't stop smiling :)They GMH.

I work in a bank - a place where good news is hard to come by recently: Today I spoke with a gentleman who told me he needed to know how much money he had. When I asked if he had a large purchase coming up, he said yes. "I'm buying clothes for the man who asks me for a quarter every day on my way to school," he replies. This gentleman was 12. GMH

Today I was feeling really upset and out of no where I started to cry. When my little three year old brother saw me crying, he quickly ran to the refrigerator and gave me one of his juice boxes. My little brother showed me that there is kindness in the world. GMH.

When I was 11 years old, about a month before my dad passed, he was almost completely paralyzed and the doctors we sure he would never be able to speak again. Just out of the blue, he said my name. They called me and put him on the phone, and he said he loved me three times. GMH.

Last year, a couple days before xmas, I was babysitting a 5 year old girl and a 3 year old boy. The girl really wanted to make cookies, but I said we could only make one batch because otherwise there would be too many. She said 'that's ok, we can give them to the homeless people, they like cookies, right?' - And that's exactly what we did. GMH

Today I was going out for a coffee with my boyfriend. On the way I passed a homeless man and gave him $5. When I got to Starbucks my boyfriend dumped me. I walked home crying, and when I passed the homeless man he told me how sorry he was, and offered to buy me a coffee. He used the $5 I gave him, and smiled proudly as he handed over the money. GMH

I was biking down a busy street when I saw all the cars stop. When I looked back, I saw a mother duck and her babies crossing: every single car had stopped to let them pass. And every driver looked so happy, no one mad about being cut off. If we can show this much care to the earth's littlest creatures, imagine what we can do for each other. GMH

A little girl was diagnosed with cancer before her 1st birthday. At age 4, she had a dream to raise $1 million for cancer research and chose a lemonade stand to make her dream a reality. Now, over $25 million has been raised in honor of Alex Scott (1996-2004). AlexsLemonade.org GMH.

Last week, my grandma who had been diagnosed with cancer lost all her hair. My grandpa told me he had never seen a more beautiful woman in his life. They have been married 49 years. GMH.

A few years ago, I was out with my gorgeous best friend, feeling like the most ugly girl in the room. Sensing this, an elderly gentleman won a stuffed animal from the crane machine, comes over and says "a stuffed animal for the prettiest girl in the room." I still feel like it. GMH.
