I am a teacher for second graders.

This past week we've been learning about facts and opinions.

I said the statement "You are beautiful." A little girl raised her hand and said it was a fact.

When I told her no she said, "Everybody is beautiful. No matter what, they are beautiful."

Little kids like that GMH.

If you are a soldier and you are reading this, I just wanted to say thank you.

At work, I was ringing up a soldier that had just returned from Iraq. A man with his small son stepped into line behind him.

I While the soldier was getting out his wallet, the man stepped forward and paid for the soldier's items. Then told his son that's what heroes look like.

I am the only mixed-race girl in a class of 28 white students.

A few years ago, our class teacher casually made a racist remark. One boy challenged her and got sent outside. The teacher told us that if anybody else had a problem then they should also leave.

The whole class stood up and walked out.

Today, I saw a homeless man with a big jar of money at McDonald's.

I thought he was going to buy food, but no.

Instead, he donated all of the money to the charity McDonald's was supporting.
