Want to get your story posted? The way the story is written is VERY important. Try to end your story with a punch-line. If you can, QUOTE SOMEBODY in the story. It's OK to capitalize a word or two to add emphasis. And USE (first) NAMES!

How it works: GMH visitors vote on all submissions on the 'Vote on Upcoming Stories' page for 4 days, and the best stories each day are posted on the home page. So if your story doesn't appear there, as many as 100 people still read it and smiled while moderating!

For the past week my grandfather has been in the hospital.

All this time my grandmother has been with him, very depressed.

Today, two 16 year old girls helping out at the hospital took my grandmother out to dinner.

She came back in the best mood I have ever seen her in.

Kind strangers GMH.

I used to hate riding the school bus.

I got picked on all the time.

One day I was sitting up front with the little kids to avoid it, and a little kindergartner sat with me and started to sing to me.

Today he's in middle school with my little brother, singing with the Chorus as one of the all-state Chorus members.

He still GMH.

Today, I was in my preschool class.

One of the girls was having a rough day and was about to cry.

Another girl came over and asked, "Do you need a hug?"

The other girl shook her head yes and started to cry.

The whole time the girl hugged her and told her it was going to be okay.

Thoughtful kids GMH.

This summer I was in Italy, when a boy came up to me and gave me a single red rose, and began speaking in Italian to me.

I signaled that I didn't speak Italian, and he thought for a moment and said hesitantly, "You...are...

Beautiful."

& walked away.

His random kindness gave me confidence, & GMH.

After 9/11 and Islamophobia, I've been afraid of wearing a hijab (headscarf).

I decided to wear it again after 8 years.

Today, at the park, one man ran and yelled at me to get out of his country.

A group of people stood up for me.

People who don't judge everyone for a handful of extremists GMH.
