(from MMT) Today, I slipped on ice and sprained my ankle on my walk home from work.

A young man in a wheelchair witnessed the incident and insisted on helping me. I ended up sitting on his lap as he wheeled me 8 blocks down the street to my apartment.

I read a news story about a 7yr old boy who calmly took his younger sister into the bathroom and called 911 when 3 armed men came into his house and threatened to kill his parents.

They came into the bathroom where the kids were, and when the boy said he called 911, the men ran away.

In 1938, Nicholas Winton helped 669 Jewish kids escape certain death from the Nazis.

They became known as Winton's children. 22 survivors, now aged 70, went to see Winton again. He is 100 and his family of survivors has swelled to 7000. They're all alive because of him.

My grandfather eventually developed dementia close to the time he died.

Our last Christmas with him, everybody said hello to him but he said nothing back. Very shyly, I said "Hi Grandpop..." He looked at me, smiled, and winked. "Hi Pretty Face," he said weakly.

Today, I watched a news about a six-year old girl who was burned from a fire that started in their home.

Her face and her right arm were badly burned. She could've been saved from the burns if she didn't come back to the burning house to save her 3-year old brother.

Her courage GMH.

In the elementary school near my house, there is an loving teacher who serves as a safety crosswalk officer for the children going to school.

One day, a drunk driver was speeding down the street. I witnessed her jumping in front of the child in its path and was killed. The child was not touched.

Her courage and love for these children GMH.

(From MMT) Today, at the food court in the mall, a beautiful girl about my age came up to me and hugged me with tears in her eyes.

Once she calmed down, I realized that I had pulled her out of a bathtub a month earlier, her wrists covered in slashes.

I am an EMT, and her gesture of appreciation GMH
